I've got an E140, and it uses the exact drive belt, and the tensioners look practically identical. My belt is getting a lot of cracks in it, and your video showed me the two most concerning things as I was looking at this belt tonight: (1) the rea pin and (2) how to get the belt from around the steering shaft. Sir, you've just saved me HOURS of time figuring it out on my own, and a world of less-than-sunday-school language from the frustration I would have had!! Great video!!!

Thank you for this video. my neighbor who is an awesome mechanic like you for Crown Lift Trucks, just replaced the mower deck drive belt at 195 hours and said we should replace the transmission belt this winter . I used to be able to do these repairs myself but my agent orange syndr0um has me on oxygen . All I can do now is clean the tractor once my wife has finished cutting the grass(it only takes her 20 minutes or so) . this tractor is over kill for our flat yard . I bought it 11 years ago with 6 hours on it from a landscaper that needed something bigger,$1400.00 later it has been awesome. Still looks new. enough from me but again many thanks and I will have Tommy watch this before he starts.

You have given the most straightforward and uncomplicated explanation of all that I have listened to yet. Having to replace my steering on my D140 and I found a drive belt that's cracked and ready to go at any second. Fixing the steering was bad enough but since I have it all taken out I am now going to replace the drive belt myself. Thank you very much! Now, can you fix the fact that no one carries the parts for all this stuff in a small town? Waiting 2 days for everything from Amazon is gonna make this take forever

How's she goin'? Well changing the main belt is pretty simple, once to take half the mower a part eh!!!. How crazy is that to have to take the steering shaft out to replace the belt. I guess maybe they don't wear out that often. Thanks for the nice step-by-step. And a nice repair too!!! Take care!!!

Couple of FYI's. You need a small pipe wrench to hold the engine shift while you brake the bolt lose on the clutch. And watch when you drop the clutch down that the small little grommet in the clutch housing doesn't drop out. Other than those two FYI the job goes as explained in the video.

Great video as it all applies to my JD 160. I hate that guard pin at the rear for the drive belt. I've been usign ATV/MOTO jack to raise the front or the back a bit just to have access to maintain my drive belt. Is there any concerns with the fuel tank or any of the engine oil in raising it as you do? Id love to raise mine that much she didn't want any spilling or issues with the fluids.

I've even applied some heat, ie. heat gun, and a little gentle mechanical persuasion via a small hammer. No joy in Mudville. Any further suggestions?

If you do make sure carburetor is up, clamp off fuel line and remove air filter so it doesn't become saturated with gas. It may be a better choice to jack up the front end and use car ramps or jackstands. Remember Safety First. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.

I think with this video did for me was talked me into buying an electric lift. 😂 my L130 sat under a tarp for three years because we moved the woods and didn’t have any sun so no grass. Lol I probably should’ve trashed it but I pulled the carburetor apart cleaned everything but a new fuel pump replace some of the fuel lines and get the motor running in it is always run great and I replace the front spindles and I’ve got steering gears to replace but now my PTO clutch is barely turning and isn’t working so I got a pull that off there and I’m sure I’ll have to replace that and it’s 18 years old so I guess I’ll do the belt and pulleys well I’m in there then three idler pulleys on the deck or seized up so I’m replacing those and bought new blades and spindles off of an eBay kit with everything to rebuild the deck. I replaced my spindles before and they’re still spinning and after that and the steering gears the drive belt the deck rebuild spindles cleaning out the carpet and fuel pump and even two new seat springs it’s pretty much a new motor, the transmission was replaced about six years ago. Lol The videos have been very helpful but from this one I think having the lift in my garage would be the most helpful. Lol. Do you have to drain gas or oil to do that for the turn mower on its side? And on those old 16x6.5x8 Tires on a 2004 L1 30, can I just stick and innertube in there on those wheels or do I need to replace the tire. They’re pretty expensive now and one leaks fast the other leaks slow. What do you find best to fix those or do you have to replace the whole tire?
@Patrick-Villa
@Patrick-Villa 2 жыл бұрын
I was having problems with cracking in my tires and air was slowly leaking out. I heard to put just tubes in them sure enough it works.
@ShaneZettelmier
@ShaneZettelmier 2 жыл бұрын
@@Patrick-Villa i’ve thought about it. These tires are 30 for the small ones and 50 for the large each tubes are about 10 bucks apiece. I put fix a flat in the front tires a while ago and I guess there was still some in there because they have sealed up and are holding air now one of the rear tires have to be filled up every time I mow. I have a canna fix a flat I’ll probably put that in there next time and see if that does it come out if not I’ll probably just live with it for a while but it doesn’t leak quickly so hopefully the leak is small enough that the tire slime will seal it up and make it last a while longer. I don’t know if I can get tubes for the rear tires I know the front ones are $10 apiece but the front seem to be holding air now so I’m good on that but I definitely think tubes are an option. I wouldn’t do that on a car because the tires can come apart when they get old and crack but these things only go 3 miles an hour so I’m not worried about the tire falling apart on me. lol.
