I bought one in '94. I still mow with it today, great machine, can't kill it. Left side can trim under hedges without the need of a string trimmer. Excellent machine.

- Haha... I have F-525 and it's the best mower I ever had. One feature about the F-525 is that the mower deck is in front and cuts the grass before the wider wheels flattens it out first but, the the BEST part of owning a F-525 is that it has a 14" offset on the left side of the mower deck. That deck offset makes mowing around trees, flower beds and under hedge lines fast, easy and, greatly reduces the need for edge trimmer work on bigger areas. Many other mowers have the decks under the machine and make it impossible to do edge mowing because the front and back wheels keeps the mower deck away from reaching the lawn edges without going over into mulched flower beds or, up to fence lines.... I'll be keeping my F-525, FOREVER!

I've got two f510's and love them. Pretty much the same as the 525. F.Y.I the left pedal is the traction assist pedal. When you lift the deck It transfers the weight to the drive wheels to try and keep the wheels from spinning. Page 13 in the manual.

You're having way to much fun on that John Deere wheeler spinning around.. I've not seen a mower with deck offset. That is a pretty good idea to get under bushes and stuff

John Deere is pretty fun and actually runs well and mows well as I cut stripes in the front yard the other day and was fairly impressed

I believe I will keep this one for a while after the video. I mowed out the front yard and it left pretty nice stripes as well.

The part that centers the balancer in the engine broke. Put a 5 inch Crack in the engine block. Deere quoted 2000 to fix some time around 2012. Fixed with ebay parts for 300. Now runs great and cuts very well.

My father-in-law gave us his that he purchased new in 1985. It cuts thick grass really good and turns great without leaving my lawn rough. I have a few steep hills, and it can't climb them. So I go down them and come up on the milder slopes. I have a problem starting it. The battery won't stay charged, so I jump it every time I mow. The starter and something else has been replaced, thinking this would resolve the starting issue. I recently watched videos addressing this issue that I need to try, besides replacing an alternator.

I have a similar problem, mine will start but while I’m mowing the blades will stop and I’m wondering what’s causing the problem, it cuts great and I really like it, so I have put a new PTO clutch on and it does the same thing. Don’t know if it’s the PTO switch or not. I’m at odds to what the problem could be. Thanks for any idea you might have.

I have this mower and truly enjoy it. But I have a problem with the blades stopping while mowing. I don’t know if something is draining the battery or it’s the PTO switch or what’s going on to cause this. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@MurphyMower
@MurphyMower Жыл бұрын
I would clean the PTO switch and really they’re not that expensive so it wouldn’t hurt to replace it and then also the PTO has adjustments you can do. I don’t have any videos on that but you can find them pretty easy and I bet that problem.

Try to find a schematic diagram. Those are cheap, easy things that don’t hurt to replace anyway. A true mechanic would have you test all these items and sometimes I do that but if it’s a cheaper Knouff of a part I just replace it

It can mow as tight as a 10 inch circle at the left side of the mower deck. I have over 20 trees in my yard and with a few wood chips around each trunk I never use my walk behind mower or weed whacker any more. So while not technically a zero turn it’s so close that it doesn’t matter. What I like about mine is that it is way more capable on a side hill than a zero turn. Tracks straight and if you lean uphill and use the traction assist pedal it can mow across a side hill that would cause a zero turn to roll over. I wish JD would have continued and maybe improved this model instead if discontinuing the F510 and F525 in favor or zero turn models that are all the rage in the US these days. They do make a line of commercial grade front mount mowers but those are diesels which I don’t want and they start at around $15,000 which is overkill for a homeowner.
