The 30 second oil change is not the only way to change the oil. Periodic full oil changes need to be done. Too many people act like the 30 second oil change is the only way to do it. John Deere even recommends that the first FULL oil change should be done after 6 hours of operation.

The oil is in the oil filter. Replace it and the oil is changed. They call it the 30 second oil change

Ditch that 30-second oil change junk. Swap it back to the normal filter and drain plug extension.

That's a very complex starting sequence, you need a starting checklist. Master on, mixture full rich, carb heat cold, prop full fine, yell "CLEAR" crank engine... 1000 rpm after start

😂 and I just changed *MY* mind about a simple (NOT!) purchase. 😂 😂 😂 Think I'll look at those Hur..qu.. -whatever lawn mowers (which seem to be strangely out of stock everywhere but w/e). All I needed to hear. Dang! (The S300s might be better, but they're definitely pricier.)

It's got a spring loaded choke. He wasnt starting it correctly. It's not the mowers fault

I want to buy this same tractor but I can’t stand the 30 second oil change. When I change the oil I want to drain ALL the old oil out, I’m surprised John Deere would implement something like that and bragg about it as a selling point.

.. you can get rid of the 30 sec add-on and go oil school oil filter.. just need to add the threaded bung for the oil filter - $5 part on Amazon...

buy a drain kit... or a conversion kit. My plan is to keep the quick change setup and every other oil change, drain the mower. Back in the 60's and 70's the interim oil change was to simply change the filter, and add a quart of oil in your cars... I like the extra capacity the quick change provides.

The filter is huge and way better than a small filter, oil capacity is increased and the oil filter acts as an oil cooler. Your engine won't last as long with a standard filter as it will with the large John Deere filter.

I want the mower, just dont want the 30sec oil change which they now FORCE on you unless you buy the two lowest models. Its a cash cow for JD. Im now looking at other brands although I dont want too.

They make a conversion kit that gets rid of the 30 second oil change and replaces it with a traditional filter/oil change. You can get it on amazon for around $20.00 to $25.00. They also have the kit with 2 quarts of oil for around $35.00. The kit is real easy to put on the mower.

I bought a convertion kit to get mine back to changing the oil the old way . Coast about 26 dollars. Filter is about 9 dollars instead of 54 dollars for quick change!! Google about putting on a convertion kit. Simple to do. Drains ALL the old oil out.

The Lowes in my town gets their mowers from local John Deere dealer. Same mower except I get 10% veterans discount from Lowes.

@@mikevanelli3693 you can get a bigger discount from your dealer since you’re a vet and get it serviced yearly so you’re mower will still run like new

@@vinceschannel8927 -Not only that. Dealers usually have mowers in a covered area or inside, plus they will set everything up(grease it, check fluids, go over all parts to make sure everything is in working order, and clean it if it needs it) then hand deliver it. None of this is extra. Dealers want your repeat business and to make sure you get the product as intended. At box stores, it is just another in a long line of products they sell.

I got rid of John Deere . Tractor is great, mower deck, sucks . The deck is fastened to the tractor all 4 sides , go over hump in lawn, just scalloped lawn . It does now even either . Get a Simplicity , much better mow job , lot better .
