i know your more of a Deere guy, but I have an old international 806 here’s a story about it and its history and hopefully you’ll notice it! Back in the mid 60s my great grandfather was farming with Minneapolis moline cat crawler tractors and old pull type combines. When they started to get out dated and parts started to become scarce he sold every piece of equipment on the farm except his diskers and totally restarted buying new combines and tillage equipment. A notable thing was the international 806 which was heavier then the farmalls so it could pull more. He did everything with that tractor, he combined, he disked, he harrowed and he cultivated. In the mid 70s he bought a brand new 1466 and a new 914 pull type combine. After he switched from MM to IH in the mid 60s the farm only went up hill and the purchase of the 806 made him the top farmer in our location in Manitoba! It’s important to note that in our area, some farmers were still farming with horse and oxen and plowing with steam engines at the time. Thank you and have a good day.

Got to know several guys who were familar or involved one way or another with Deere engineering. Initial development of new generation was in an old grocery store, blacked out windows, in 1953. Its hard to believe the secret was kept so well! Another friend built experimental tractors, a huge 3 ring binder, go make this! Daunting!

I’m also surprised they kept those tractors a secret for long, thanks for watching😎👍🏻

My dad worked on a small NW NJ dairy farm. They only used three tractors, a styled A (manure spreader and hay rake), a 620 and a 630. The 620 was the main tractor being it ran better than the 630. Some fields that they grew corn in had some wicked limestone ledges in them, and to this day I can remember my dad popping wheelies when the three bottom plow would catch one.

I bet hitting some of that limestone would wake a guy up plowing. Thanks for watching!👍🏻

I had a 4640 and it was a great tractor. Only sold after I quite farming. It only had 6680 hours and it would easily make 20,000 hours if maintained like I did. Maybe fuel pump work would have been needed with the crappy fuel of today.

My 806 has about 16.000 hours on it. The only thing wrong with it is that its engine wasn’t maintained by anyone as it sat in the fence row for the better part of 30 years. It’s got a cracked block and seized shaft but everything else is mint! Don’t make em like they used to

Dont know how they were "revolutionary" seeing how everyone had a multi cylinder tractor designed, that were laid out far better then the 10/20, series

Not just the engine. The hydraulics and transmissions where a big step forward compared to other tractors available in the early 60s
@RJ1999x
@RJ1999x 2 ай бұрын
@@LovelyLead How so? The hydraulics were a complicated joke, the draft control was non existent, the Hydraulics didn't work if you pushed the clutch in, the engines were fuel hungry and lacked torque, and not long lived, which is why the tach recorded a 45 minute hour. The powershift was copied from Ford and the synchro smash wasn't anything everyone else didn't have
@LovelyLead
@LovelyLead 2 ай бұрын
The hydraulics don’t stop when you push the clutch in, the pump is powered off the front of the engine
@RJ1999x
@RJ1999x 2 ай бұрын
@@LovelyLead you just proved you have no idea, the pump that feeds the over complicated Hydraulics is in the rear, if the clutch is disengage the pump doesn't turn, so they stuck a small tank in front of the radiator to supply the front pump for a short term

Whenever I hear someone pronounce the "s" on the end of the word "Illinois," I wonder how he pronounces "Arkansas?"

Ya I say Illinois both ways sometimes with the s and sometimes without. But with Arkansas I’ve never put an S at the end
