Great video. I have seen the issue of having to rev the Deere up before driving before, if memory serves me right it was due to a broken signal wire on the alternator.

Thanks for the info. We just recently solved the issue. Earlier We installed a new alternator from the John Deere place in an attempt to fix problem. It did not. We took that alternator to a alternator/starter repair shop and they immediately recognized that it had the wrong voltage regulator on it from the factory. They changed the regulator and solved the problem.

Pretty cool comparison, thanks! I’m not a farmer, got a noob question, how do you guys mark fields and keep records what of them? Is it address, numbers or something else?

Fields have descriptive names, such as “the grain bin field” (because it’s next to the grain bins) or “the Cox place” (because the previous owner’s last name was Cox) or “the Hawkins field” (because the Hawkins family lives next to it)

@@PatrickShivers so if you are not familiar with area, it will be hard to find? And i guess GPS doesn’t show this :)

@@alexrybin3798 all the fields are on the GPS map. There isn’t a situation (on our farm) where someone is operating a $200,000 tractor and not familiar with the area.

We have a versatile 360 and two new holland T8s the versatile has had a ton of nickel and dime issues and won’t pull as good (even though it dynod 400hp) as my T8.410 and T8.435 also the cab is much louder. Emissions are problems on every color but Cummins has the worst problems for us, both my Mil-stak SP3255 and Versatile have much more emission issues than my blue equipment. The cab is much louder, but the AC works pretty good on it no complaint there. They have updated a lot on the 360 from your model as far as computer screens and what not. They are simple to work on as well. But the blues so far for us have been more reliable. Our versatile dealer stocks every part so all parts for me are one day away.(and we have had some odd issues) no matter what they have had the parts. Also the versatile burns a bit more fuel and uses a bit more def. But we still like the machine.

(Non antique) Blue tractors in the southeast are rarer than unicorns. Our Versatile dealer (1 hour and 15 minutes away) stocks virtually nothing. Drop ships everything. That Versatile is pre def and has no emissions issues….but every John Deere we’ve owned since regin began has had significant and constant issues related to emissions. 8 or 10 tractors across multiple series and years and the issues have remained constant. I have some engine replacement videos on my channel as these John Deere 8Rs can’t seem to pass 6,500 hours on a regin engine

@@PatrickShivers I have heard that there emission engines don’t last. I did do one engine out of all the T8s I’ve owned due to the liner orings failing but as far as emissions the tier 4B CNH engines have no EGR and man are they clean the oil at 500 hour intervals is still nice and brown hardly any soot. The Cummins is black as soon as you poor it in haha! That being said we like both tractors.

We have never had engine issues with Versatile. It only has 2500 hours on it though.

The deal breaker for me would be getting the part in 20 minutes versus waiting a week for the part. Who wants a tractor down a week in planting time?

Has it got 6500 hours on it yet? I haven’t heard of any getting to 7,000 without an engine replacement.

Great video but we hardly ever have codes on our 8360R and it has 7000 hours.

It’s one in a million. 8360Rs have a widely negative reception across much of the country. I haven’t heard much negative about the tractors JD produced in the last 2-3 years, but the ones made from the introduction of the first R until then have gotten every farmer I’ve ever met highly upset with Deere.

I don’t know if I mentioned it in that video, but that particular 8335R is on it’s 4th engine @ 7500 hours

@@PatrickShivers yeah. But I love the 8360R because it didn’t have def. But the best tractors will always be the 4960 and 8400. They just last long and really reliable.

We’ve had 3 different 300+ hp non articulating john deere tractors all with same issue. 2 had intermittent power steering when brand new

We run 2 2013 575 versatiles and they are super reliable and rarely have down time. My cousins farm runs all John Deere and they have a full time mechanic along side others working on their John Deeres all the time and constant break downs. Don't even get me started on their John Deere combines.... past two years they try to run 4-5 at a time but most the time it's 1-3 because they can't keep them running. Their only excuse is that the dealer is 20-30 min further than John Deere.
