@No U - Because John Winning is a good man and having a great life…not everyone gets to be old! You should hope so much as each day you creep ever so quickly to the same age as him!

I was there as a freshman! There is no comparable moment to this one at 17 years old and in college! The excitement was palpable absolutely incredible fun!

I was standing right next to him - in the WVU band. It was awesome that they did such a great job singing. The speaker system provided a 15 second delay on feedback - it would have been tough to sing around! But they just leaned together and kept singing. Thanks for sharing!

I was a Senior in in the Fall of 1980. I will never forget how awesome it was to hear the State Police chopper putting down behind the stadium, and then hearing the announcer say, "Ladies and Gentleman, Mr. John Denver". The place just erupted with cheers! He sounded great, folks sang along, he waved to the crowd, then he walked off the field to thunderous applause, the chopper took off, and the next great chapter of WVU football had begun!

Did anyone hear John Denver say to the press that this song was really about "western Virginia"?
@coryhunt4857 Жыл бұрын
Funny he wasn't talking about west Virginia. He was talking about western Virginia and the Shenandoah valley.

Who's the terrible woman screeching? Love JD but she should fall off the stage.
@funhistory3 жыл бұрын
She co-wrote the song. That gave her the right to screech her heart out. For those of us in attendance, we were all screeching along with excitement just to see/hear JD perform this in the actual state. How many fans born after 1997 would complain if could have this opportunity to screech along with him & the song's main composers in person?
