4/1/24 Praying to my maker that my 95 year old Grandfather survives this possible pneumonia battle that has him in the ER. Thank you John Denver for making such music that resonated with a young boy and still takes me back to my youth, where I went on fishing and hiking trips with my grandfather.

My wonderful dad passed away in September of 2022😢, and he loved driving down country roads and the mountains. He wanted to be cremated. We are looking for a home in the mountains with my aging mother. As soon we found the right location and home for us as a multi generational family, we will bury my father's ashes on the land. Taking him home to a beautiful mountain scene, he would have loved as his forever home!! We love & miss you, Daddy❤😊

I first listened to this in 2018… I was 19 back then and I met this guy who was slightly older than me. He was 25 and we used to be good friends. We were studying at the same university and became work buddies. Every morning I would wake up with this excitement in my stomach because I would be seeing him again. I noticed quickly that I was falling in love with him. He was everything I wasn’t back then but even though we were so different, our souls matched in a way I can’t describe. We used to spend every hour together and I found out my feelings weren’t one-sided. It was such a naive and young love. He showed me this song one time we were driving with my car late at night and I told him I never listened to this. He laughed at me for not knowing about this song. After a very intense but short relationship our ways parted. Every time I listen to this I think of him and wonder what he’s doing. Today, I am the same age he was when he met me. And at 25 years, I still do my rice the way he did and I watch the movies he used to watch. And I laugh at people, who don’t know about this song. Everyone we met along the way give us a piece of themselves that we carry with us forever. Thank you for forming me.

Grew up with John Denver, our mama loved him! Just lost my mama last month, took care of her for 8yrs 😔 I’m lost! We just got her ashes yesterday & I had engraved “Take Me Home Country Roads” above her name 😔 1st time I’ve listened to him since 🥺🥺🥺🥺

I grew up on a vineyard in the Georgia mountains back in the 80's. My aunt owns it now but I return every few months. I always get nostalgia as the car shakes driving down that old gravel road I must've been down a hundred times, with the old brick house at the end and the creek that bears our name.

I heard this on the radio when I was a kid riding in the back of a station wagon stuffed full of family. We were always moving as my father was fired and run out of one town after another. The song made me think there was a green mountain somewhere you could go to and escape your troubles. An imaginary West Virginia at the end of a long country road like the one we were driving on for unbearable hot hours without air conditioning. That old station wagon never stopped anywhere for long.

Saw him in Tucson Az, back in 79' or 80'. Great concert, he interacted really well with the audience. The word Calypso comes to mind for some reason.
