Grew up in philly. Birds fan my whole Life. But when I was 6, I took two white tee shirts, one my dads size and one mine, and made two homemade jerseys. His was a green number 12, Randall Cunningham. Mine was orange 7. Elway. I just loved him. I was around 12 when john retired. Cried when I watched this live. Broke my heart. When he said he can’t do it physically anymore, I was as crushed as he was. John elway was a super hero to me.

One of the best QBs of all time. I'd put him in my top 5 or 6 for sure. In terms of absolute raw talent he's probably # 1 or 2 though.

I'm glad he's still around Denver. The Broncos would be worse than they already are if he wasn't around.

You were the first Bronco I ever met back at the Garts Sports grand opening in 1992 by Aurora Mall Shannon Sharpe was also there that night but my mother worked there and was able to get me in the front of that long ass line, it wrapped around the entire store, I was only 7 years old but I definitely remember shaking your huge hand and getting your autograph on a football card, been a die hard Broncos fan ever since I am now 34 years old and I am very thankful to have witnessed all 3 of our superbowl wins! Thanks John for all the great memories....

Elway retired at age 38 so he probably could of played another year or so and the Broncos probably could've become to first team to three-peate but again he won back to back super bowls as time was running out on his career so I can see why he made that decision to retire.

Damn. Both Peyton Manning and John Elway have shit tons in common. They both had something to do with the Colts and Broncos. They each won their final games as a Superbowl against an NFC South team, both of which they were the visitor. They each have been blown out in a Superbowl by an NFC West team, whilst they were the home team. They both blew a 10 point lead in the Superbowl.
