John was asked to go to USA by many top singers like Celine Dion and Tom Jones but didn't want to leave Australia and his family. The clear range of his voice is totally unique. He's also very very funny with a typical Aussie sense of humour and also known for his kindness and humility. We LOVE him in Oz. Good horse rider too!! He met wife when they were teenagers and still deeply in love in their 70s.

Farnsy is in his 70s now and his career goes back to the 1960s. He still sounds amazing. He has performed with Tom Jones, Celine Dion, Ray Charles and Queen (post Freddie) and still nails it. John sings all genres. His concert performances are phenomenal and always feature the amazing musicians who support him, with different solo instrumentals. He is a power singer with a wonderful tone and superior vocal range. He does this all live for hours at a time and then goes on the next night to do it all over again. Just wow!

You're the Voice - this is a must. If it's not the unofficial Australian National Anthem then it should be. Me being Scottish it even has bagpipes its a win win. John's voice is incredible.

I was never a huge farnsy fan, but by all accounts he's a lovely bloke.

Everytime I hear this song always get chills

The thing about this performance for me is that the band and backing singers are doing this song as a single unit. There is absolutely zero wavering from any of them, and they did it show after show after show. All of them are hugely accomplished musicians. The Keyboardist has an Oscar for a musical score (which came after this) and played with little River Band with John during the 80's, as did the bass player. The lead guitarist (and fourth backing singer) on this tour is a star in his own right down under with a number of hits with his own band, and is referred to as 'Baby Voice' since he sounds so much like John. The African-American backing singer, Venetta Fields has a serious pedigree too, joined the Ikettes and later sang with Streisand, Pink Floyd, and the Stones. After migrating to Australia in the early 80's she sang with John and the rest of Aussie musical royalty. If John decided to do another go around with a tour, I'd think almost all of them would drop whatever they were doing with the exception of Venetta who is now over 80 years of age and retired, but she might pop out for one night for a sing. That's how powerfully connected this group is. And you can see how it works in this song especially.
