When John literally opens up in a song, you are wherever he takes you. He can paint a picture in your soul. No one could ever reproduce the emotion he evokes, or the effect he causes with every line. Thank you for reminding every Aussie how we have been blessed to have such a talented guy who has been unaffected by fame. What you see is who he is off the stage. He is everybody's mate. Magic happens rarely ! ... with John it's frequently !!! ... and ... I have been to many international artists concerts ! ... never once have I had the magic that I have felt at a john Farnham concert !!! ... I started to think all concerts were going to be this good ! ... rude awakening !!! ... love the wizardry that John produces in a magical night !!! ... thank you from the fullness of my heart !!! ... I think straight after this he belted out Amazing Grace with Vanetta and Lindsay. John's concerts can go for two and a half hours and his heart and soul go into every song. I can't think of anyone else with the same energy level and vocal ability. So glad he's on the mend. Thanks Nick for another great reaction.

No, he sang a couple of ballads in between. Plus he also was talking to the audience for a bit, cracking a couple of jokes here and there. The two songs with only David Hirschfelder accompanying him on piano were Comic Conversation and a Stevie Wonder song called All in Love Is Fair.

This song was a regular in his setlists. There's an even more amazing video from 2003 when he was 54 where he belts it out even higher. Although I have to say this is my favourite version. Nothing better than John in his prime belting out one of the best songs ever written. The man has no limits which is why we all respect and love him so so much

I’m from Australia and I grew up listening to John Farnham, Cold Chisel etc. And I admit I was spoiled listening their music, not understanding how much talent they have. Haven’t heard their music for a good 20 years and now I have been listening to them again and I am blown away by their gift in music. I appreciate it better now.

And there's no head voice mix in those high notes. He's pulling chest voice and does it always at will. Right through a concert set. No lowering the keys or anything. Just phenomenal.

I had goosebumps the entire way through this. I’m so blessed to have seen John live many times. The only other artist (in my opinion) who could take someone else’s song and make it their own (& possibly better is Elvis). I put John right up there with the KING. 💕💕

Even when John was singing Sadie I knew he had this amazing voice in him, he is one of only a few true artists that when he sings you hear every word that he is singing. John truly is one of the best male singers ever and deserves that the world give him the adulation his talent deserves. So glad you got to discover John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes/Cold Chisel, the top two products of Australian music imo. We were somewhat isolated back in the day, no internet, no youtube etc. Throw in Jack Jones, Diesel, Renee Geyer and too many other artists/bands to mention as it was our golden era of music.

I was lucky enough to see John do this from the first row during the ‘Last Time’ tour in Perth. You could hear John’s natural projection seperate from the amped sound and it’s just remarkable!

There is a version of this song where he sings live with Jimmy barns . It dosent take anything from this solo which is brilliant but the friendship and chemistry between them is amazing .I have rarely seen proformers care in proformance as much, as you sence from them . True co operation without their ego overriding each other .So lovely to see

I believe he has been allowed to perform this song over many decades because Steve prestwich was the drummer for LRB when John was singing for them…. LRB also did this song too when they both were in the band…. So it’s Chisels song but also John has taken it as his own too

I used to go and watch Cold Chisel play at the old Cronulla Workers 40 years ago. It was adjacent to the beach at Cronulla in Sydney's south. Great times back then and the band circuit was awesome.

The irony is, Johnny Farnham had a song in 1967 called Sadie the Cleaning Ladie, us aussies mocked him a bit for that, then out of no where, John Farnham, released Whispering Jack, october 1986, and we all went nuts. To this day, i can guarentee you, some one here in aus has a song of his on their play list from that album.
