As an Aussie, it is brilliant to see someone, especially from the USA, hear John for the first time and thoroughly love his stuff as much as we all do and have done for the last 50yrs or so! Amused but very much impressed Kiwi here, grew up with Aussie rock, Cold Chisel, Aussie Crawl (boys line up), Icehouse, hell I got ripped for it last time I was in Melbourne, but I _love_ Howzat by Sherbet. And AC/DC is -pants- hands down the best band from the Southern Hemisphere; I'd listen to a dozen akka dakka albums before I put a single Van Halen song on. Alf's Rape Dungeon and Damo & Darren is some of the funniest $hit ever too. Shout out to Milko ;p

The raincoat John is wearing is an Australian coat from a company called Drizabone. (Dry as a Bone) I think the coat he is wearing is the Heavy weight Oilskin Riding Coat. If you see it from the back it has a high split so you can ride horses and it keeps you warm and dry. It’s a legend and a lot of people wear it as a fashion accessory as well as a riding coat. Being an Aussie and seeing an American appreciate the awesome power of both of our nation treasures; James Dixon “Jimmy” Barnes and John Peter Farnham is heartwarming. It’s incredible that people from other parts of the world can sit down, listen to the power of the voices of these two men and be in awe of them just like we all have been since the moment we first heard them. My mother introduced Jim and John to me at a very early age back in the 80’s (I am 38 now) and they are both the basis for comparison when it comes to vocal rage and I may be a little bias but for me nobody has ever reached the level of these two men save for someone like perhaps Freddie Mercury. I remember Farnham when he started with Sadie the cleaning lady and his years of being king of pop, he was Johnny then, I think that's what he meant when he thanked James Barnes. I was more a fan of Jimmy Barnes via Cold Chisel but when my son was a teenager he was a huge Farnham fan. Both suffered later with throat issues and you can hear why.

In the late '60s, I saw Johnny Farnham at a service station in Dandenong, he was fueling his mini, my young heart burst. I was about 14yo, a country girl going to the olympic pool. I've since, at aged 60, experienced surgery similar to Farnsy, 14 hours. From personal experience, my heart goes out to Farnsy, and I wish him well. That's the only similarity we have, as I can't sing a note.

Jimmy Barnes has a unique vocal style because he does not sing with the regular vocal cords, he uses his secondary, or false vocal cords. This gives him his unique sound:)

This is actually a Jimmy Bares song from when he was the lead singer for Cold Chisel but these two have played off each other for years. As per the other comment about Jimmy being drunk, well he was drunk for a lot of his career and we never complained or even mentioned it back then because it didn’t matter he was awesome anyway. Love your channel keep up the good work and thanks for the great memories mate. Shooter.

He apologised later for phoning this performance in, without bothering to give it a lick of warmup or rehearsal. At least the rest of the time he was drunk he was still being professional about it.

Yep this was both of them at their absolute prime! Barnsey can’t quite get the full grit-scream any more and Farnsey doesn’t quite get the high power notes either (very understandable as it would have to destroy your vocal cords at some point) but they were just NUTS back then!
