Everytime I hear this song it brings me to tears!!! My son loved baseball at five years old. It brings back memories. He passed away but not before I brought him to Alex box Stadium for a LSU baseball game. Bases loaded and LSU was losing. Bottom of the ninth inning they hit a grand slam and won. R.I.P. Derek. Daddy misses you.

It's not really about bb. It's just a metaphor for the song's actual meaning.

The beauty of the song is that you can take it literally or metaphorically--or both!

Fit and Healthy at Any Age No...... it’s just about baseball. Trust me, finding rhetorical exigence and purpose is all I did in college.

Wow...2005 John was 60 years old. I smiled thru this whole video. Not much change in his looks since his "Lookin' Out My Back Door" days. He's as powerful today as he was then.

You're so right about that. John Fogerty is the absolute best rock singer-songwriter on earth. More people should have the same opinion as you have! We can only hope that John will be able to share his music for a long time. Keep on Chooglin'!

They used to play this at the opening torneyment in high school every year. Without a doubt the best baseball song maybe with the exception of Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

Several years ago, Fogarty's house was flooded, and he lost dozens and dozens of custom guitars. The one shown is the only one he had restored. He only used it to play Center Field. It is made of a custom baseball bat made by the company that makes Louisville Slugger basts. After using one last time, at a baseball game, he donated it to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, where it is on permanent display.

Every time I hear this song my recollections flash back to 1954 and a skinny 16 yr old NY kid watching a Giants/Dodgers game on a 14 in B&W Dumont TV. It was a Friday night, the start of a critical 4 game series at my beloved Polo Grounds, between those arch rivals ! The weather was ideal, not too hot, with a slight haze to the summer night. It was Willie May's best year ever, he was on a roll, no one could get him out,...no one ! Sal " the barber " Maglie was the Giants pitcher in this important game. As I watched, a peculiar event started, - a ground-swelling of emotion from the packed Polo Grounds fans, late in the 1st inning. I recall the two announcers being confused.." what's happenin ? " they mused. Then the camera panned down to the on-deck circle where No 24 had just entered, swinging 3 bats to warm up ! The announcers were blown away, " First time we ever saw this ! " ! Willie got a hit his first 2 times up but by the 7th inning the Dodgers were ahead 2 - 1. Here comes Willie again into the on-deck circle ! The stadium by now was pure bedlam ! Willie finally steps in with a man on 1st and 2 outs !! He looks at two pitches then lunges at a fastball sending it screaming into deep left-center field !! It hit the top of the wall and bounced back, past the onrushing Duke Snider, into centerfield. Round the bases the two Giants raced, guy on 1st scored easily and Willie wasn't far behind !! The TV camera was way above home plate so we all got to see Willie racing around 3rd like a mad man, never hesitating, his eyes glued on home plate, - his hat flying off !!! The shortstop fielded the relay, spun around and fired a strike to Roy Campanella, the Dodger catcher. Willie and the ball arrived simultaneously, a huge cloud of smoke and Willie pops up as the baseball trickles out of Roy's glove. An inside-the-park home run putting the Giants ahead 3-2, which was the final score. The two announcers were beside themselves, yelling that they feared the stadium's rafters might come crashing down. Easily the most exciting episode I had ever seen in a MLB game ! So every time I hear John Fogerty singing,..." A-roundin' third and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man ",..I can't help but believe he saw that same game ! A special game, a special player, and a once-in-a-lifetime moment for a young Giants fan !!
