This song flatlined on radio charts in it's day..never could figure out why. One of John's best post-CCR singles.

I saw Fogerty for the "Blue Moon Swamp" tour...best show I think I ever saw!!!! How ever, since then every time I've seen him it's like he rushes just to get through and off the stage. Like he does in this video.

Always liked this song and Status Quo's version. Both kick. Can't wait for Fogerty's new CD in the fall

What I love is that the magnificent Mr. Fogerty actually could have written this for Status Quo. It has a Quo feel, but John's voice is inimitable. I kind of love John Fogerty more, but I also love the Quo. It's all champagne and chocolate for me.
@brittanielsen60244 жыл бұрын
could have? He DID!! Status Quo are great but John' the ultimate composer.
@Dcey-cy2wc4 жыл бұрын
The Quo are awesome, but Tina Turner sang a few of his songs and they were awesome. A truetestemit to a great song writer the one and only John fogerty.
@andrewdrabble89393 жыл бұрын
Both versions rock. Always knew that this wasn't a Quo original but each singer/group put their own stamp on it and the Quo did just that. The audience (including me) go wild when Andy plays the opening bars

For all the guitar players out there compare the guitar sound on this sound to early Angus Young. You would never think there would be a connection between these two but there is.

I've been a fan since the beginning. I don't think I have ever heard John sing a bad note. I wonder if he has "perfect pitch"?
@BoomBeatle312 жыл бұрын
Why are the two top comments about completely different artists/ groups than the legend performing in this video? John Fogerty is better than all mainstream music in this day & age. & This original & all of the originals by John Fogerty beat the multiple covers that were done. Without the originals, there would be no such thing as "cover songs"

How can one guy be so great? That's easy, he's of Irish extraction. Van Morrison, U2, Westlife, Boyzone, The Pogues, Shane MacGowan, Enya, The Cranberries, The Corrs, Clannad, Sinead O,Connor, Davey Spillane, John McSherry, Flogging Molly, Christie Moore, Gary Moore, Dropkick Murphy's, Jaded Sun, Republic of Loose, Shaun Davey, The High Kings, Gaelic Storm, etc, etc. We are a musical race. Slainte.
@guyfihi14 жыл бұрын
I am a native speaker and he says, "We're goin' out tonight with THE dancing shoes." He doesn't mean he is using some girl's shoes, it just means he is telling the girl's mother he is going out dancing with her.

The beauty of a great song is that sometimes the covers are better. "All Along the Watchtower" anyone?
@RickNuthman6 жыл бұрын
The original recording of this song is way better than Status Quo version.. I had to look up who Status Quo are and listen to a few songs.. They almost get southern rock but are a bit off.. The british version has no soul, flavor, funk or swankiness.. It's sounds way too happy and cheesy..
@stuartcrooke57435 жыл бұрын
Both are great versions but Quo make it a far bigger song imo.
@peterzang13 жыл бұрын
@MrShotokan4 I like plenty of the pop people you just mentioned and Classic stuff. And punk. It's how well you do the thing you're trying to do. Not what people wish you were doing. Try and remember, many hardcore Stones fans and 4 Seasons Fans thought The Beatles were wimpy.
@brianwendholt485211 жыл бұрын
The hillbilly you're referring to happens to be the writer of this song that Status Quo covered.

Unluckily, I'm not a native speaker... can anybody tell me what John intended to say when he says "Well, I’m gonna tell your mama what I'm gonna do, We're going out of the night with your dancin’ shoes,"? Is that he's going to tell some girls' mother that he is using her dancing shoes? Odd...
@CarzorStelatis3 жыл бұрын

@Jotabono92 Total falacia! Total falacia!
