John's work on Blood Sugar Sex Majik was his best in my opinion. He was fighting heroin addiction at that time. Of course, working with Rick Rubin at the Mansion would help anyone be their creative best.

His jaw had to get reconstructed and he had to get all fake teeth. I've been a fan of his for so long but it's still crazy to see John in '89 to '99. Its looks like a different person to me.

He looks different because of his teeth changing his face shape mostly the front grill. He had bad teeth he got an infection and lost his teeth. He got dentures and it made his face especially his nose and top lip sing in a bit as his teeth are now straight and flat not sticking out. Look at a person with teeth and compare how they look without teeth and you'll see what I mean

When I first started listening to him, and watched that interview, I genuinely did not believe it was him. I've never seen someone's entire face die the way John's did back then and for him to look so full of joy and life now. I was struggling w sobriety at the time and both seeing that interview and also then seeing John now helped me change my life tbh. I also found out I could paint, started playing my instruments and writing again. I think his existence is so important for people to see, as a human and an artist. He's one of very few who ever came back from being that close to death. The fact that he still tours and writes as of 2024 is enough to inspire anyone.

I do enjoy listening to people try to explain something that they realised when they were on drugs. Drugs give you access to an awareness that's above your intelligence grade, but it doesn't necessarily bring understanding. So often these people just end up rambling about something that they think they understand, but they're merely only aware of it.

Great edit 🙌🏼 I love each of these albums. John has been a spiritual teacher in my life for decades. often he conveys the same insights as other spiritual seers and articulates in his personal way. I’ve heard Eckhart Tolle say there has only ever been one spiritual teaching -there is only one truth, it just gets expressed /clothed in different language /concepts. He’s a very conscious person. Thankyou for the clip 😄🙌🏼

I once dated a heroin addict and she put it the best way: You're the same person on and off the drug. The drug didn't influence you to do all of these things that you love and enjoy, you're the one who loves and enjoys them. That's why addicts will always be addicts recovering, because they love the drug. You can still make everything you make all of the time on and off the drug. There are functional addicts in society that can blend in nearly seamlessly with others. So, it's important to remember that while yes there are obviously cognitive and physical ailments attached to it, the art that was produced was the product of the same man the whole way through.

He's talking about the ego and the self. Splitting the mind body and soul into 3. All equally important parts but he means that he doesnt like how externally all of the creativity and substance is labelled as the body; the human, the name you were given that really means nothing we're just doing as nature intended with a bit more consciousness it's just another label that emphasises on that in society above the other 2 parts of you. Its a very confusing way of saying 'we live in a collective stream our energies are intertwined spiritually in these ways so id like to see the mind and its function as the imagination and creative soul be given more credit; destroying the ego and the self to deepen your connection with your creative process and not hold back anything that the conscious human side might limit'. Let that stream do its thing cos we get in the way of ourselves constantly with things like self doubt, external pressures and internal termoil etc. At the same time its all essential to the human experience just limiting in most cases.

@@meeswindhorst John got off drugs in '97/'98 as a prerequisite for rejoining the band, in addition to the fact that he was near death and losing teeth. there's plenty of passages from Anthony Kiedis' biography where he gets pulled out of his early 2000s relapses by John and other friends. that, and let's be real, heroin John never could have made his 2004 output, let alone Curtains from 2005.

Drugs sensitized human consciousness to another part of oneself, which one could not feel or discover because the energy centers were not shaken by this chemistry. This is a positive aspect. But the human being is mechanics, he is built according to very authorized mechanical principles, it is normal that if you create such a thing, you will have such an effect, but it is not consciousness, it is a consciousness effect.

Weed, mushrooms is all natural plant medicine and comes from mother earth. It’s have been used for thousand of years as a healing plant medicine. It heals you and opens up your subconsciosness mind. It expands your mind! It’s not a drug, it’s a sacred plant medicine. If all of humanity would take some acid or mushrooms, just one time, the whole world would look very different. And that’s why it’s illegal. Not because it’s a ”drug”, because it would change peoples mind and perception on what’s really important in life. People would wake up! 🙏

He’s talking about being initiated into the “Mystery Religion” and Ritual Magick. The part where he speaks on hearing ghosts all over album is so true.

What words of his in this interview lead you to believe he's talking about being initiated to a mystery religion? I do remember him saying and I misquote "I've recently found that things are not what they seem and I just try to be a good person"

Well, the reason we listen to music is to potentially commune with the collective imagination, which fundamentally exists and scares us and ads credence to the religion lie.

He is literally talking about being connected to the spirit world, which is absolutely what the Bible warned about. All the movies and entertainment have been misleading everyone as to what is really going on on this planet. The powers that be on this planet know that, which is why they fund it so readily. “ 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” … we were warned by God himself of how we would have to deal with man’s religion, twisted theologies and Idiocracy, spawned by doctrines of Demons and devils
