I dont know if it was the time when they shot this or if it was John Gallianos show, but i feel that the models from the 80's and 90's were much more free on the runway, you know what i mean? Like nowadays when i see the shows everything is so structured and plain. Such great times...

Ego vox clamantis in deserto : Galliano’s runway shows/collections were and still are more narrative, his collection presents a character that required/s the model to interact with their situation, styling, dress, decor - the context in a cohesive manifestation of the story John’s presenting, even the invitations to the show are little artworks, a satin ballet slipper, some sand, bullet cases, maybe a school report card... everything is done to promote this core theme which has been the major inspiration to the collection, it follows therefore that the models will perform more ,express their narrative more than a solemn defile...

I was watching a documentary about 90’s supermodels and they filmed the backstage of this show and a bunch of other and back then the model weren’t allowed to eat before walking and were served champagne all the time, so I think they were drunk ( one of them fell on the runway too but they didn’t leave that part in this video) and John galiano was asking them to run and look scared, in the documentary I saw, you can see him explain that to Kate moss and see her try and run backstage, she looked amazing but if you look in the video she didn’t run, I think Galliano really expected them to give a lot of their personality in their way of walking it must have been very motivating

This is my favorite of Galliano's. All I can say: Genius!!! This is almost 30 years ago, and it still looks new. If I recall, he literally bootstrap this show. He was literally a starving artist.

The models of the time had personalities and knew how to move. I much preferred them and the interesting mix of ethnicities rather than daughters of celebrities, surgically enhanced and other "po-faced trout pouts" and wooden expressions on some that you see on the catwalks. One other I have seen was a knock-kneed model who couldn't walk and I found it very distracting.
