John Isner & John McEnroe vs Bob & Mike Bryan in an exhibiting doubles match at the BCF Tennis Challenge. While the match is very competitive, that doesn't stop the players -- particular McEnroe and the Bryans -- from having some fun on the court.
The BCF Tennis Challenge raises money for charities in the greater Baltimore, MD area. The event was started by Hall of Fame tennis player Pam Shriver in 1986.

Man U can tell how supremely talented johnny mac is, still holding his own in a pro match with some of the best these days, he's probably the most naturally gifted great American champions along with Agassi
@tommymas1
@tommymas1 2 жыл бұрын
Agassi was not naturally gifted. He was the product of Bolletieri Acadamy and hard work, in the gym and on the court. Arthur Ashe and Pete Sampras we're much more naturally gifted. But McEnroe was the best.

@@tommymas1 you said he wasn’t naturally talented like Nick B created him. He had the talent….Nick B was just able to keep him focused. Who has talent like McEnroe? I think McEnroe may be the best all around make player ever.
@tommymas1

@tdane5017 My opinion. I'm allowed it. He was an baseliner developed at an academy just like all the "ovas" are. He had more talent than his peers. But as talented as Edgerg, McEnroe, Federer, etc, no. He made the most out of his game. After Djokovic, the best around baseliner and returner of serve.

@MrPernell27

Cause he's Mcenroe. Probably the greatest doubles player ever, and when you only have to cover half the court the age isnt as much of a factor. Besides, he still has great hands, understands the game and a very good serve. He could probably still be a top doubles player if he had the right partner. However it is an exhibition so we don't really know how hard the Bryan brothers are playing.

@newtonfirefly3584
@newtonfirefly3584 5 жыл бұрын
@Chief Ryback ; Yes John McEnroe has an amazing, unique set of talents in the game of tennis. He [and his good friend Mary Carrillo] regard his tennis talent, especially at the net more like an artist. So, perhaps we could call him a "tennis artist" [He also has similar appreciation of art paintings (has a private gallery) and music (plays some and his second wife Patty Smyth)]. Most top players get their 'feel' and 'nature' on the court through extensive practice, then in situations manage to play the best or proper or unique shot in the appropriate situation. John, apparently [as described by Mary and himself[, has a 'natural sense' without the extensive practice, and actually does not play extensively like others nor extensive practice. Rather matches are the best for him. Also, in his younger years he did not have much physical and physio training either. He does more in his later years than he did then, but say compared with Bjorn Borg [then and now] his stamina is noticeably less. See some matches on the Senior's World Tour. Oh, John McEnroe was born February 1959, so in this match he was 50 [nearly 51 about two months later] (am also born in summer 1959) Sincerely, :-)

@Kevinxnam10 There is not really all that much kick on the serve, the insane height comes from where Isner is able to place it in the service box. He is able to do it because he is so damn tall. Watch the serve again and look where it lands in the box, I think its insane

No, Mac didn't have more tools than Fed or Pete. While McEnroe's net game is among the best of all time, Pete and Roger's ground game several levels above his, and serving Roger is at least his equal, and pete his master. Both are much better movers than John. An "on" McEnroe could, and was, still was over powered or even out foxed by a couple guys in his day.
