I just saw this film today. I cried in the theater. I could see Bea’s struggle with trying to be strong in the face of life and loss all while still being a child. Her dad is goofy and full of life even in the face of something hard. I know we don’t find out exactly what happened to her dad, and it’s more implied, but that journey of Bea becoming more playful and meeting all the imaginary friends and trying to help while feeling lost made me emotional. Even if we grow up, that spark of childlike wonder and creativity should stay. I’ve done a lot of things that I guess most 18 year-olds wouldn’t be able to say they’ve done. But I still feel like a child at heart. And I don’t think that’ll ever go away. What solidified that for me was when Bea realized that Blossom was her grandmother’s old imaginary friend. Seeing her play the record she once danced to as a dancer with Blossom dancing with her and spreading her wings had me in tears. 😭 I know someone would say it’s silly, but it’s true. In a way this story felt like it was told through the eyes of a child.

I just went to see IF in theaters I actually really liked it, it shows how as we grow up real life gets in the way of imagination and creativity. I have young nieces and a nephew they would love this movie

I still talk to my childhood imaginary friend now and again, to keep the joy and comfort alive in my life and the lives of my children. Keeping childhood alive is the singlemost thing that's kept my life vibrant.

Agreed! It totally took me by surprise. So emotional and magical. It kept my 7 and 5 year olds entertained and I cried a couple of times

My version of bea’s dad meeting the ifs (Bea and cal takes her father to the merry go round goes inside walks downstairs opens the door and sees all the ifs) Bea-so what do you think (Beas dad looks surprised) Bea’s father-I don’t know what to say this is unbelievable this has to be a dream tell me I’m dreaming Cal-no you’re not sir Bea’s dad-how do I know Keith the invisible if-if you were dreaming could I do this (Grabs the dads belt yanks it off his pants) Keith-or this (Bea’s dad pants get pull down by Keith) Keith-or how about Cal-Keith I think he gets the picture you don’t need to over do it Keith-I was just proving a point (Hands cal the belt) Cal-I am so sorry he has a habit of pranking every if when he gets a chance just because he’s invisible (Cal hands beas dad his belt back) Bea’s dad-that’s okay I’ve been embarrassed before (The dad pulls up his pants and puts his belt on) Bea-so now do you believe Bea’s dad-honey I I have a lot of question and this is a lot to take in Bea-I know dad it’s a long story
