Loved that you gave the drummer props at the same moment John did! At 2:52 you said "c'mon drummer!" and in the same moment John looked up at the drummer, made eye contact, and gave him a 'well done' nod :)

That drummer is Alan White. He played with Yes, and is quite amazing. Sadly, he passed away this year.

This is Jayy's third John Lennon reaction. She mentions "Imagine" but she also reacted to "Woman". Lennon at his best was virtually untouchable.

George Harrison is there too, along with Klaus Voormann on bass and Alan White on drums. Billy Preston couldn't make the video apparently. He's on the studio recording. Klaus Voormann designed the cover of The Beatles Revolver album. Alan White joined Yes in 1972.

The DRUMMER was Alan White. He was hand-picked by John Lennon, then went on to replace the original drummer of the band YES, and after 30+ years in Yes he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. He died in 2021.

This is one of my favourite Lennon tracks. I always remember Paul Weller covered this on a John Lennon tribute night with Jools Holland. I very rarely like cover versions, but this one was a blistering performance.... Weller is one of the very few people who can match Lennon's anger whilst performing. Well, I'd rather suggest the more impressive tracks from his albums "John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band" and "Imagine". Plus singles like "Cold turkey" (!!!) or "Whatever gets you thru the Night".

You mentioned Lennon's hair there (interesting you seemed not to spot Yoko with blindfold). While staying in Denmark Lennon made the decision to have his hair cropped shorter than at any other time in his adult life. The precise reasons are unclear, although he and Ono were in the midst of a lengthy peace campaign and were keen to remain in the public eye. Lennon and Ono both had their hair cut on this day. It was later described by the Daily Mirror as “the most sensational scalpings since the Red Indians went out of business”. The couple kept their shorn locks in a bag for future use. On 4 February 1970 Lennon and Ono swapped the hair for a pair of Muhammad Ali’s bloodstained boxing shorts, which they said they intended to auction to raise money for peace.

Lennon had gone through "scream therapy," got off heroin, had cut his hair short i the process...this video is right after that, he grew his hair back.

Jayy- Paul was always my fav Beatle and also my fav solo Beatle. John was my second my fav though. Try Johns version of Stand BY Me. I think its better than the original.

Now I was led to believe that the studio recording for Instant Karma was a relatively unknown drummer by the name of RICHARD STARKEY. So if correct that means this is a lip sinc tv broadcast with a RICHARD STARKEY look alike syncing along. Hmmm!

Well, she's done nastier things in her often-difficult attempts at being a pop-rock singer. This number with the knitting, is at least an interesting eye-catcher. One have to come up with something like that first.
