Nah! It's not too hard a tune to pick. I've seen buskers do as good a job as this,no sweat. If you're a John Mayer follower you will likely think he's the daddy. But this was okay,that's all.

Clearly I was stating my opinion. I like Mayer's picking here more than all the other versions I've listened to (including all the ones mentioned above), and this is one of my favourite songs. You're free to disagree, of course.

@@conorsmedia I couldn't tell you the name of his band, if he's in one. I couldn't name one song he has written, I don't know who he dates or who he's friends with. Yet I know exactly who he is for one reason. Guitarists talk about him and I'm a guitarist. However, judging by this video it's a label he doesn't deserve because he fucks the picking pattern to this great song. He's somehow made Dylan sound like Westlife... But it is what it is, and he's very highly rated among guitar players.

Tughan Turunz do all performers enjoy hearing drunken whoops and catcalls while they play? This is a genuine question. I prefer to zone out and feel the music as an audience, and that involves shutting my mouth. Wondering what (most) performers think. That's to include any performance really not just music.
@devindevine68875 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s great, but not after every fucking line... save it for genuinely hot moments in the song, when he kills a high note, finishes a solo, or busts out a great lick. When after every line there’s an “ALLLRIGHT”, “WHOOPEE”, “YEAH” and/or off-kilter seal hand slapping, it gets real old real fast.
@BBQ19535 жыл бұрын
Devin Devine - according to the write up in the description, he just showed up, unannounced, and played a song. I hear that artists do that a lot. Sometimes, those performances make it to You Tube. They probably know, going in, that the crowd is going to be rowdy. You and I, sober and listening at home or on the commuter rail or sitting in the cafeteria are the ones annoyed by their noise. It detracts from our focused appreciation of the performance. I can imagine that for a seasoned artist like John Mayer, that audience’s happy noise is a good sign about his chosen piece to share.
@devindevine68875 жыл бұрын
Brett Bryant - You make a good point! It is a bar, yes. I know it gives a certain amount of satisfaction to artists like Mayer. But regardless, no matter how drunk you are, keep your mouth shut for more than two measures ;) Thanks for the response.

I gotta be honest, I kinda like how rowdy the crowd is. As it says in the caption, it was a "surprise" visit. Were the rowdy drunk people supposed to walk out when John Mayer walked in? Personally, if I was caught in such a situation where someone suddenly starting throwing down incredible music, I would respect the music and listen quietly, but I can't deny that I would be fired up and would have a hard time containing my excitement. Great cover.

My point exactly. I'm old, from the days of live performances of Jimi Hendrix and Cream and Steppenwolf and The Doors. Big Brother and the Holding Company. Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane. Bluehouse Basement, Charlatans, American Flag. I was there, and we didn't make animal noises during the artists' presentation. Yeah, times have changed, OK. But what? Is the audience there more for the group experience rather than every nuance of the creative work?
