Tells crowd to lower expectations then goes onto play the tightest acoustic version of that song I've ever heard. Classic JM

I think he is actually kind of in the edge doing this because in my opinion he is more used when they are playing as a band and of course a band compared to acoustic only is very different in many different ways so he's saying that incase he fucks up and cringes. But nice stunt by jm. Classic

I forgot to share that, after the set, I walked up to John and told him how beautiful his new songs were, and he seemed genuinely touched and grateful, and gave me a huge hug and we spoke a bit. I didn't know if he'd be friendly or an ass based on what I'd heard, but he could not have been nicer, and even tried to help me with my camera after the flash didn't go off for our picture.

Fans: I GET IT! People are yelling and it sucks. But I filmed and uploaded this so people could enjoy a lovely rare live performance, and I obviously had no control over other people in the club. Every day I get dozens of posts by people complaining about the background noise to the point where I feel like, gee, would they prefer I just delete the videos. Please just enjoy it for what it is. / end of rant.

That's a much nicer way than what I was thinking "I wish that vapid ibecile would just shut up so I could enjoy the song, all the shouting in the world is not gonna get him to notice you."
@computergenerated38334 жыл бұрын
james payne it really isn’t. Music brings out involuntary reactions in all of us. Nobody should have to suppress their excitement at a FUCKING CONCERT. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 people are the ones that feel entitled. I’m gonna tell you right now that you are not entitled to a perfectly silent concert with hundreds of other people around perfectly catering to your concerns. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 are the ones that need to just shut up and just enjoy the music rather than shit on other people who are enjoying the music. There’s another video of John Mayer playing an amazing cover of watchtower and the crowd was completely silent and there’s jerks like you who take over the entire comment section complaining about how nobody cheered and John didn’t get the respect he deserved. So which is it? Silence or no silence? You can’t have it both ways. Make up your minds drop, keep to yourself, drop the holier than thou crap and let people enjoy music in peace.

I was exhausted and ready to head home. I was just walking out to the parking lot, and had my parking stub in my hand when John walked in with his guitar. I'm like, I'd better turn around and go back in. They didn't announce him or even mention his name. He just walked up on stage, plugged in and started playing. Maybe some of the people shouting didn't even know who it was, because of his beard and long hair, and they wouldn't be expecting him.

I don't understand all the negativity towards the crowd. When you go to a gig, especially to a surprise and unexpected one like this, you aren't consciously thinking about how you may sound on someones phone recording that may or may not find its way onto youtube in a few weeks time, nor should you be. Pipe down and appreciate that they're actually getting into the music rather than standing their motionless.
@Bigchungus-vz4vg6 жыл бұрын
Matthew Newson in a song like this the only ‘real way’ to appreciate is to pipe down and feel it. But I don’t blame them for the excitement.
@dannyt46634 жыл бұрын
I don’t have any negativity towards the crowd as a whole, just towards the chick that keeps screaming “GET IT IN JOHN.” Like cmon, this is an acoustic performance, not fucking Guns N’ Roses

what I love most about this guys music, is that he ALWAYS has a solo acoustic number for any song hes ever played. Most of the people know him as the electric guitar player with the band behind him, but it shows that every song he ever composed starts off with him playing on an acoustic guitar. First thing Im doing next morning is try to get this one down :]
