The fact that he still remembers a lot of the lyrics (and THE SOLO) after 16 years shows that he probably plays the song a lot in his free time, for himself

“Over and Over” could have been one of those songs where the crowd would sing along to the chorus. It also sounds like something couples would walk down the aisle and get married to. It could’ve been a late 2000s hit.

C’mon John, put it out. The world needs love and soothing right now. I don’t know any other artist that can just rip out a half-forgotten demo and sound like a fully produced band.

I love that Cory is probably playing the rhythm part to support the solo. Doing it for the fans.

It plays in the same key, same meter, and same tempo as I'm Gonna Find Another You. I feel like they could be mirror images of each other, imagining that they could have book-ended Continuum with this song acting as the first song in the album. Now I'm imagining how Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan would've added their magic to this track.

As far as I know he played this live one time. And I was there. Speaking appearance on Broadway in early 2005. He said this was gonna be his first single off his next album. And when he introduced the song that night ... he said he hadn’t figured out the bridge yet. He got there and it kinda came off the rails and he stopped and said he still had to finish it. I remember being so confused when it wasn’t on Continuum

My Girlfriend of 10 years & I have seen John Mayer 4 times together. We're finally getting married next September, this should be our wedding song. I'm very upset this didn't make Continuum :(

Wow, I didn't think it would live up to the hype of the title, but... I gotta admit. Continuum is why I play guitar the way I do. Had that song made the cut, it would be burned in my head and a part of my repertoire for the last 16 years. Really beautiful.

We really need an album called "The Kitchen" (reference to a podcast where I think he referred to the restaurant kitchen where he had a mess of unreleased incomplete stuff) where he just plays his unreleased incomplete stuff.

I totally get this. Just last week I finished a song I started 14 years ago. It was ONE line at the end of the verse that I was stuck on. Over the years I would revisit it with no luck in coming up with the right line. But last week, alas I figured it out. Now I plan on recording it :)

The creative value that John adds to the world is amazing, first time listend to the "Covered in the rain" smashed out. Your any riff gets everyone into grove.... Great man and God Bless you for adding charm to the world...

A real treat to hear the song again after 17 years. I'm convinced if this was released on Continuum it easily could have been his own "Thinking Out Loud" mega hit. It still seems like a really special song to him and when the time is right it'll probably come out. (The fact he can still remember how to play it and remember all the lyrics when usually forgets all his old songs live says a lot IMO.)

there are so many good unreleased Mayer songs - Lifelines, The Hurt, Breakaway its like 2 full albums material. I hope someday he will do a full mixed version and released them but who knows maybe they have more magic being these rare and rough gems but he could at least do this stuff live once in a while.

I really don’t care for John’s music but I cannot deny his expertise and beautiful voice. He really is THE best guitarist out there, in terms of playing and finding the perfect tone.
