Haven't heard his voice sounding this good live since Where The Light Is (2007)

but "that where the light is" version is something different, it's more deeply soulful.

I know the track from that album like the back of my hand. And listening to this solo brought on some tears because you could see where he improved upon the points of that solo so long ago. That’s what I love about old music played live by the original artist: that it can be interpreted differently this many years down the road and still improved upon. Fwiw I think every Mayer fam has a soulful connection to Where the Light Is.

That one was auto-tuned pitch corrected. This is the best has voice has ever sounded, as he was actually pitchy in the WTLI show
@AustinALiboiron3 ай бұрын
@@zacharyalexander9410 Never heard that his voice was pitch corrected! It has always sounded eerily perfect compared to everything else live I've heard. Where did you hear/learn this?

the way the sound feed backs naturally...the way some notes hit almost like they are through a cocked wah or something thanks to position 2...incredible.

@asktehdust is it bridge + middle? Thank you ❤
@TalonShreds5 ай бұрын
@@goodyyy6171I think it’s the neck and the middle, I’ve been playing it like that on my strat and it sounds good, I could be wrong tho. I think as long as it’s the neck and middle or bridge and middle you should be fine 😁
@titi642305 ай бұрын
It is bridge and Middle, position 4 . The tune is in position 2 . The first solo is in 1 ( neck ) , and the Final here is in 4 . That s what i hear and i see on his guitar

Yes! This modern age is really "poor" in terms of great musicians. I mean great, not watch me how fast can I play arpegios... John Mayer is a monumental guitarist who can not only represent and replace someone like Gary Moore, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, but at the same time, he can place the same arsenal into the modern era and at the same time occupy the place of a future legend. He is a MONSTER PLAYER...
@philnicol80725 ай бұрын
Excellent duo performance. *John Mayer is constantly re-inventing himself* It's like a modern day Johnny Cash and June Carter duo. But this Johnny Mayer can *blaze that guitar away.* 🎸🎸 Awesome John..... 👌

He's arguably more attractive today than he was in his 20s. I have no idea why, maybe it has his haircut, his smile, his paleness or his fashion sense but young John (2001-2005) was pretty unattractive, I'd say maybe even downright ugly. He only really improved when he started growing his hair out for the Trio tour, after which he's just kept looking better, and today's John is LEAGUES hotter than John from 20 years ago. Dude's aging like a 40 year old first growth Chateau Latour Bordeaux wine
