I actually think this was a pretty rough performance lol. In "Who did you think I was" John starts at a much slower tempo, Steve comes on drums at a much quicker tempo to the point John glanced and was like "wtf??" lol. In "wait til tomorrow" there was clearly a missed cue after his last solo cuz it's one of the few times I could see John eating it on a solo section and stiffened up physically. Reminded of myself at one of my shows when something goes awry! @18:07. All that to say, I didn't think it was that tight of a performance at all, but I'm STOKED they did this again. Trios are so hard to pull off.

@@crosbycofod5052still a great performance, but yeah could feel that it wasn’t as together as they might’ve hoped. John’s voice also sounded quite tired in some of those higher passages as well

Love hearing John play a strat again; I don't know if anyone else felt how Mayer started that first tune slower (around 89 bpm) the band came in and pushed it up about 10 clicks right out of the gate. Always follow the drummer ! (especially when it's Steve Jordan) :)

@@DRMCC0Y I’m strat Guy all day. But you can just hear how on the PRS almost sounds like a blanket over the mids/highs (muffled) still a great guitar i tried one the other day too. The pick ups definitely are factor but not the only thing making the difference here.
@TJjjjjjjjjjj
@TJjjjjjjjjjj Жыл бұрын
@@ericescanes the biggest difference in this video is because he’s playing his bridge pup on the PRS and the neck on his Hendrix strat. I own both his of his fender sig models and two Silver skies (original + The new SE) and they are both very clearly “strat”😅 sounding. The biggest difference between his real strats and his Silver skies is there’s a wider and more precise range on the tone control of the SSky. Personally I think it’s more noticeable when he switches amps over switching between two single coil guitars

I believe it was in 2015… I went to see John Mayer with my wife in Tinley Park, IL. Halfway through his set there was an intermission. When the lights went back out they put up the Trio logo on the big screen on stage and I about lost my shit. I had NO idea there was going to be a set by them. I was absolutely blown away. The intensity of these three guys together, it’s really something special. These are the moments we are going to regard just like people who saw the greats back in the day.
