Very true Tricia - - She often took her wingman Corbyn to NI to resolve the issues which led to peace ,like the first steps of the releasing of political prisoners which kick started the Good Friday process - Mo was a vital cog in brokering the peace process Not much is mentioned of this in the press - Just Corbyn loves the IRA smear and Blair was the hero of the day when its completely not true - The hard graft was done by Mo and company - lets not forget this
@KennBurch
@KennBurch 4 жыл бұрын
That's true. Mo was great. And the GFA would not have happened had it not been for Corbyn's negotiating work as an emissary to Sinn Fein on Blair's behalf. There was never going to be an end to the violence without negotiations with Sinn Fein, and there were never going to be such negotiations if there was going to be an insistence that Sinn Fein be made to look like it was surrendering.

@Olivia Purcel Absolutely true. Blair and Campbell made everything about their "project"-everything had to be about proving that they were right to treat the Labour Party as the VIetnamese village they found they had to destroy in order to "save". The reality is, the main reason Blair moved Labour so brutally to the right after 1994 was that he knew a Labour victory, on any manifesto, was going to be a certainty in 1996 or 1997 and that the only way Blair could pretend he deserved credit for the victory was to remove every last speck of socialism and even social democracy from the party's policies.

McDonnell is extremely bright and very literate in economics. To think we could have this guy taking the reigns of the economy and putting forward an agenda for this country that is actually positive and forward thinking. The other thing the media never mentions - McDonnell has support and backing from some of the best minds in economics. Whether it’s infrastructure, climate change, energy - they have made some really good policies that actually seek to tackle the problems If one looks at the trump admin, it’s the exact opposite. The head of each agency is tasked with the destruction of said agency. Head of the environmental protection agency is there solely to destroy the agency and make sure the fossil fuel companies do well. Head of education is there to make sure private and charter schools do well whilst public schools get funding cut. This is what we will have with the Tories. I really hope the people of this country think very clearly before voting. This is the most important vote of a generation.

I don't like Jeremy Corbyn at all but there is a huge difference between him and John McDonnell. John is a hardcore Marxist willing to use violence if necessary. He hides it very well in his media appearances these days. Sounds awfully reasonable. But anyone old enough to remember or anyone capable of simple research of his history knows who and what he is. In this interview he wouldn't really rule out becoming a terrorist if he was in Northern Ireland at the time. Think about that for a second. That's an extraordinary thing.

As a traditional Labour voter, I am sure that I was not alone in 2019 in expressing amazement that Labour had agreed to Boris Johnson having the election he craved. They, the SDP, and the Lib Dems could have blocked him and kept him in charge of a minority administration until 2022. Instead, they handed Johnson the victory he wanted, together with a large Conservative majority that gives him the power to do whatever he wishes. That John McDonnell actually believed that Jeremy Corbyn was a Prime Minister in waiting in 2019 is unbelievable. It was clear as night follows day that Corbyn would never be elected to the office of PM.

The “supreme” court is actually unconstitutional in the UK because we are not supposed to have any political intervention from courts - the separation of powers. The only reason the “supreme” court exists is because Blair invented it to keep himself out of The Hague for war crimes.

@tyler6539
@tyler6539 4 жыл бұрын
The thing is that isn't true. Were they close to winning? Not at all (although arguably in 2017, they came much closer to winning than people realise). Yes the Tories won their thumping majority and this shows their support in the country, but I can promise you there are a lot of people that agree with left wing politics and Corbyn. Despite getting the highest vote share, still over half of the country disagree with right wing politics. Within the Labour Party there is still conflict between the left and the centre. Not winning elections and not agreeing with the status quo or your personal opinion doesn't negate the relevance of left wing politics and corbynism, because there is still very much support there
@tyler6539
@tyler6539 3 жыл бұрын
@@nerdsville2299 I agree with this completely, which is why I think Starmer has a much better chance of being elected. I don't personally agree with New Labour and I would consider myself to the left of the party, and I understand completely why we were rejected by the population. I will always vote Labour over Tory and I personally believe Labour should return to its roots of how it was created, but i don't think we are ready as a population for it yet. I will continue to support Keir Starmer to victory even though he's not my ideal candidate (but even as a Corbyn supporter I'm glad RLB didn't win leadership or we would be even more crushed), but he has potential to do real good and he doesn't strike me as the massive Blairite that some perceive him to be and have left the party as a result of. Our first step is stopping all this infighting because we will be out of power as long as we are at war with eachother. So my main point is that I agree completely with your comment that appealing to the broad centre-left is the way forward to power, and Labour is heading in the right direction with their new leadership, but the impact of Corbynism and his appeal to so many shouldn't just be forgotten. If Keir really does stick to his promises of maintaining the party's social radical agenda while also appealing to the northern seats we lost in 2017, I think we can do some real good.

When I lived in Hong Kong in the 80’s I got to experience this in all its glories and to see all the hardships of the real poor. The food banks and the gradual drip feeding of curtailment of social care is growing more evidence of the kind I saw in Hong Kong. Not something to be proud of at all. I used to be proud of my country but now all I see are the rich paying for the lies in order to feed their bank balances and sod the rest of us. They are getting their way quite nicely so far. When Brexit happens the hedge funders who are short selling the pound will be even more vastly richer than they are now. Then they will squirrel it all away in their off-shore accounts and spend just a little of it on funding their hedonistic lifestyle. Will they be putting a can of beans in a food bank? What do you think?
