I grew up as a young child listening to these artists.. I even sent JLP an email when I was 8 or so asking for advice as a young musician. He emailed back a long letter of encouragement. I haven't heard these artists in many years and hearing them is bringing tears to my eyes and a flood of energy to my heart. Thank you for this.

John McLoughlin and Zakir Hussain have a symbiotic relationship stretching back to 1974. This is a Shakti reunion of sorts, Shakti being the incredible band he formed with violinist Shankar, the Indo-Jazz fusion version of the Mahavishnu Band.

I saw JM with Shakti in Cincinnati during the summer of, I think, 1977; dazzling!

@@russellreising4294 I would like to have seen the original Shakti. I did catch the reunion line up in 1999 at the Barbican, but was somewhat disappointed because Shankar was no longer part of the band, and the tonal landscape was completely altered as JM played electric and not his unique custom built veena, which was lost on the 70s, apparently. That veena propelled the original group's sound.

McLaughlin seems to consistently get his best tone ever with that PRS. My favorite part of his career might be right now.

It almost sounds like piano here or there, if that's what you want from a guitar, I don't think I like it very much but I'm not really into Jazz. Generally it seems to me that PRS' have a bit of a sterile sound. But, if I like it or not, I have to admit that this sounds great and impressive here! (after a while that drone is a bit unpleasant though)

I have been listening to my old master over and over for the last month. Thank you yet again, John. This is the last thing I hear every night before I fall into gentle slumbers... I saw you at the Capital Theater in Passaic, NJ, in 1970 - Back stage at Carnegie Hall with my friend Al di Meola For " in San Francisco" and many, many, many more happy shows such as Shukti.
