i love anything Mellencamp...can't wait til your next one! Rain on the Scarecrow i Highly recomend. it talks about a time when small farms acroosed our country were being Forecosed on. Farms that had been in the family for Many generations were being lost.

John Mellencamp was made to call himself Johnny Cougar starting out, he went through a few name changes Like John Cougar-Mellencamp, until he could take the name he wanted, so his music is under a few names. He was always good at his music, so people followed along.

Saw them play live at an outdoor venue years ago. They played right through a long, rain-soaking thunderstorm. Sounded good live. Have also heard that former bandmates have dubbed him the "Little Bastard" since he is supposedly very hard to work with.

John's style of singing or genre is called heartland rock as he sang a lot about blue-collar, farmers & truckers themes. He has had so many hits especially in the 80's such as "Crumblin' Down", "Pink Houses", "Cherry Bomb", "Lonely Ol' Night", "Small Town", "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A.", "Paper In Fire" etc.

Hurts so good is referring to Love-making with John.....making love making hurt so good......back in the day when a guy said "she put the hurt on me" he meant the love making was so excellent he hurt in the process!!!!

Great reaction! You need to listen to "Little Pink Houses" next. IMHO it's one of his best but unfortunately the radio stations here in the US only play J&D which is SOOOO depressing & overrated. Thanks!
