If you're NOT Portuguese or a Lisbon/United/Madrid/Juve fan and you think Ronaldo is better than Messi, then I no longer want to debate football with you because you don't 'get' football. Incredible arrogance in that comment, saying anyone who sees Ronaldo as the Goat has no ball knowledge. I'm neither Portuguese nor a fan of any of these teams and in my opinion Ronaldo is the Goat, but I would never think of discrediting someone who disagrees with me like that. Everybody has different opinions. Messi is my favorite too. He's extremely talented when you watch him play. Watch him without sentiment and you will see the resson why people say he's the GOAT. I respect CR7, he's a beast too.

even people have tried to compare them in terms of trophies but i try to ignore that that coz wining a trophy is a team effort though sometimes some individuals can determine the outcomes of most of those games but when talking INDIVIDUAL brilliancy on the pitch?? I dont think there is any footballer close to Messi, the passes, the goals, assists or vision& creativity, doing the unexpected, the goals even just the touch on the ball alone(ball control), the ballance even just merely winning the ball from him is almost impossible of which the best players do is foul him or u let him run past you Most players can have either half or less of these qualities but theiy are considered the best in their positions but Messi is like a number 9,10,11 i mean coz of the free role its not easy to understand that man I JUST FEAR HIM I DONT KNOW IF HE CAN BE MARKED BY THE GREATEST DEFENDER MAYBE YOU NEED 2

Messi scores all 103 min in hes Carrier and CR7 all 113. but for myself it isnt a debate about dribbling playmaking passing assisting and creativity.

yes, ashley cole tackled him alone but he still did scored goals against chelsea more than messi did and don't say he played in the premier league thats why, the only time chelsea met ronaldo in the champions league he scored and it took messi more than once before he did. i appreciate your opinion mikel buh i think y'all did underrate ronaldo and was just scared of messi, i mean even you was always scared and kept kicking his leg, and when he goes down the referee blows immediately buh when ronaldo does they'd wave the play on hand sign... so yes whatever he achieved he earned it. It’s clear you don’t have their stats… Ronaldo in all his career and his 8years in Premier League across two spells, only scored once against Chelsea. Messi has 3 goals against Chelsea despite only facing them in the UCL

it's clear you don't he scored in his first season on his second spell at united when we(chelsea) played 1-1 with alonso opening the scoresheet he scored a header also in his first spell at united in the 2008 ucl final, a free-kick in the 2013/14 season vs madrid not to talk of goals in the league cup and all he has atleast 12+ goals vs chelsea. so its you who don't have their stats cos i could remember when we chelsea fans bragged alot 'bout messi never scoring against cech until he did cech conceded just 1 or 2 i guess until courtois did @@michaelaniefiok2592

now checking the stats again he never did scored against chelsea until 2018 and that was against courtois with iniesta providing the assist, and the 2nd and 3rd goal coming in the second leg that same season at camp nou after denying chelsea 2 glaring penalty and that was the ninth times he was facing chelsea so he never even scored against cech in club history. ronaldo did have 17 goals against us btw, @@michaelaniefiok2592

@@paulboluwatifeabi9588 hmmm the stats say that ronaldo faced chelsea 17 times to be precise 12 times in the prem, 4 times in various cups and once in the UCL. He scored 2 goals against them and assisted 2 goals . He scored once and assisted 2 in the prem and scored once in the UCL. Messi faced them 10 times and all of them obviously in the UCL. He scored 3 goals and assisted 3 against chelsea. So Ronaldo 4 g/a in 17 games against Chelsea and Messi 6 g/a in 10 games against chelsea

For me obi knew messi very early in his playing days starting from world youth championship Nigeria vs Argentina. Messi was something else, if not bcus of messi Nigeria would have won that cup, though i wont forget that bias call from the refree given Argentina cheap penalty.

No, it's not biased. I thought so too in 2005. However, after rewatched the game in 2023. I can clearly see that we were just so emotional. It was a clear penalty and a careless tackle by players like Taye Taiwo and co in the 18 yard box.

I believe Messi is a better player too, but the way Mikel said it in that interview wasn’t fair on Ronaldo. Let’s call a spade a spade. He was insinuating Ronaldo has an “arrogance & pride” to be considered the GOAT. And that didn’t sit well with me so I can see why people were upset. Every champion has a bit of arrogance and that’s the truth. That’s what keeps them kicking.

Mikel, you don't have to apologize for saying the glaring truth. Just like you said in Rio's podcast, against Ronaldo, the team trusted A.Cole to do the job but against Messi, everyone had to tackle. I remember the El Classicos involving Messi and Ronaldo, how only one player (Alvez mostly) usually marked Ronaldo but once Messi gets the ball, Alonso, Khedira, Ramos and Marcelo are all over him. Alonso even told the story how Mourinho and him would spend days creating tactics to silent Messi. Even with that, he still shone. No team pays that much attention to Ronaldo, let alone a big team.

The aim of football is to win. To win you need to score goals. If there’s any player in history that has proven he can score in the most important games and won the best trophies in different leagues, beating all sorts of records and has had a tougher career it’s gotta be Ronaldo. 3 different leagues and a national team that has never performed but still scoring is different. Some say messi has a better goal to game ratio which is true. But with all due respect, it should be since the majority of his career he’s been with one club. Comparing yourself with Nwakwo Kanu is an insult to the beautiful game, you can't lace Kanu's boots.
