I miss tuning in on Fridays and Saturdays to Peelie. I don't use the term legend very often but when used as a descriptor it sums John up perfectly.

The Fall weren't mentioned, were they? 'Container Drivers' was played at one point, but I think that was about it.

@danielhintz There was a documentary on The Fall, where John Peel contributed a lot to the programme, but on this occasion, it was mainly about his life and his works.

Yes you're right. It was in fact repeated after his death.

@ 9:00.... She is talking utter bollocks. "Home Truths" was great... We the listeners loved it as much for Peel himself, as for the subjects the programme dealt with. There was no cynicism on anyone's part.

Yes. In fact, Home Truths was the first programme to put the lives of ordinary people on the radio in that way. Culturally important, like nearly everything Peel was involved in. Great man.

Yeah that daft old biffer made some snooty comment about his school in part 3. They always seem to get never has beens to talk about such people, what's with the weird bloke talking about 'carllege'? As usual the one's talking most sense are those that were there, Kershaw, Walters, Siouxsie & Pete Shelley etc

Yes, I noticed that. "He went to a public school...however minor..." Jesus Christ, only in England.

Yes! She seems to have completely missed the point of Home Truths. Wonderful show.

@@stepheng8779 Yeah, "Long Evity" and "carllege" - what a strange affectation to mispronounce words like that.

I'm sure it was the sae documentary where they also featured Bob Marley, Brinsley Scwarz, Joy Division and more. Plus the clips had info about the groups along the bottom of the screen. Is this maybe edited?
@skawashers Жыл бұрын
was this edited down as i`m sure it feels longer on TV . Something like an 1h - 15

That time came to soon

I'm guessing this is a repeat from after his death due to the mention of BBC Four at the end which didn't launch until 2002 and the memoriam slide at the end.

excellent documentary, but really: no mention of his intense obsession with mark e. smith and the fall?
