Many people, even Christians, go through their lives devoted to trivial things, living for comfort and pleasure. There is no passion for God. In this lecture, Dr. John Piper exhorts all of us to not waste our lives on such trivial pursuits. Only a life passionately devoted to the cross of Christ and the glory of God will be considered a life not squandered on the last day.
This message is from our 2011 National Conference, Light & Heat: A Passion for the Holiness of God: • Light & Heat: A Passio...

It surely is His will to help you. Endure, work hard at learning and be vigilant - Satan will hassle your mind. If you go a phase of "cooling" down, it is not an unforgiveble sin - He will lead you through it if you want to be lead - God speed and speak to the Lord Jesus when walking, doing work, training, resting, getting something to eat, first thing when you open your eyes. Personally I am by no means a good Christian - in my walk with Jesus or my day/day behaviour but we must try with the help of and through the mighty power of the Holy Spirit. 👍

3 Discoveries that Will Define the Unwasted Life: 1. There is an absolutely sovereign, transcendently pure, self-existing, self-sustaining, incomparably beautiful, all-knowing, all-wise, all-governing, all-upholding, all-defining, infinitely-valuable, all-satisfying God. (There is a great holy God who means to be known truly and treasured duly as God.) 11:15 2. Jesus Christ, the Son of God incarnate, not only become the means of my seeing and savouring the glory of God, but in the very act of overcoming these obstacles (37:16); becomes Himself the apex of the glory I couldn't see. 38:50 3. The life that most clearly displays the all-satisfying worth and glory of God in Christ is a life of joyful suffering in the service of love. 51:40 (Now i live and I die in order to show that God's glory in Christ crucified for sinners like me is infinitely invaluable. 49:56)

I'm an average thinker, and maybe below and I've always felt so bad about it. Have so many times been raked with the anguish that I was God's adopted, invisible, somehow cursed child. Not unloved for God is love. Just not as worthy and not good enough. As I listen to this incredibly sincere and brilliant man speak of his own struggles I'm changed and heartbroken for falling for the lies of an evil enemy, and regretful for having wasted my one life never fully fulfilling God's design for me.

There is no middle ground when it comes to Jesus. To not choose Christ is to refuse Him. If you are not for Him, then you are His enemy. To not serve Christ is to serve Satan. There is no middle ground. Choose life that you might live. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.

I think my favorite takeaway was at 55:22 "What is salty? Not just doing good deeds - even pagans do plenty of good deeds." "If you are so satisfied in your reward that you can happily keep doing good for people who hate you, you're off the charts salty." (Which makes sense when non-Christian family members look down on me for forgiving so easily and helping those who have wronged me)

Amen! Although this is my first time hearing this message, I know that I will rehearse it over and over again for the sake of recentering all of myself on God. The Truth is so very lucidly expounded here, impacting the intellect and the emotions so as to be absolutely certain of the reason for which I exist. I want my heart and mind to be so bound up in Christ--in finding all contentment and satisfaction in His glory and grace, that in comparison, everything else and anything else will seem as repulsive as dung. My faith has been fanned into a blaze and rejuvenated. Faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. And I want to forever, for all eternity behold and know more and more of His glories. Praise be unto Him! Thank you Ligonier Ministries for making this message available on KZfaq free of charge.

At 17 i did my best to blow it. But thank the Lord He wanted me. At 38 He saved me and now at 73 i still have a living God pulling me to serve.

The Bible doesn’t say if we continue growing spiritually or not when we reach heaven. That being said, that doesn’t mean that our response in this life doesn’t matter because I believe that it does in terms of spiritual rewards whatever that looks like, which is what the Bible does talk about.

Even though I understand that reading the Bible is important, there are times when I cannot bring myself to read it when I am in despair. However, it is crucial to recognize that God is always near and watching over us.

I praise God, and pick up his banner. His cause is the Truth in which I will defend with all my heart. I give up all, so that I may never turn back.
