On this Friday Night in Heaven, John is just sitting back with his Dad enjoying a Vodka and Ginger Ale, after finishing his first 9-mile long cigarette. He looks at his Dad and says, hey you old peckerhead, aren't you glad you were wrong. Thank You, John.

I've had John Prine in my back pocket for 40 years, I'm 54 now. Like my best friend I never met.

Hearing of John Prine's death wasn't a kick in the teeth or a punch in the gut. It was a shot in my heart. An explosion of grief. Prine was one of the most human of beings that I have ever 'known'. His warmth, love, and humor has always been a balm for our times. The missing might be unbearable.

A friend always had a free ticket. I saw john at the newport folk festival from 1990 to 1997. I think he was there every other year. This is such a treasure. Because I always saw him and a guitar and that was it. And that was plenty good. Hearing him now playing with pianos and slide guitars and other guitars. And how much john enjoyed it, you could see. As he was on stage the photographers were trying to take his picture. And he would play hide and seek with them and dodge them and give them a hard time.. he had such a big smile doing that . He was a joy.

This is priceless, thank you. John Prine is the only person in the world with millions of Number One fans. And every one of us feels this giant hole of loss. He had a lot more to give and at 73, he could still rock a stage like nobody else. Hope you enjoyed your float down the Green River, John. We will keep your memory and your music alive until we all meet again at the Tree of Forgiveness. Thank you for bringing us this far.

I remember this - I was a kid - my first experience with Mr Prine

At about this time, I was a DJ in Madison Wisconsin. John came to town to do a show and came by the radio station for an interview. He was very mellow and soft spoken, but also displayed his signature dry humor. When he left through the back door, he saw my '53 Pontiac and went nuts over it. We went over and he jumped in the drivers seat, admiring the old styling. We have all lost a great American treasure in John Prine.

What rock have I been living under?!? At 61 years old, I’d never heard of John Prine until the past couple weeks when people started posting about him fighting Coronavirus. One thing I do know is that he will live on forever through his amazing music, because I’ve just now become a fan after he’s passed. Rest In Peace John, and thank you for leaving us with such a beautiful legacy!

Listened to John’s music for 43 years and never realized till he passed how many of his songs were about death and dying
