We spoke to John Ray at his workshop, a Canadian guitar builder who has lived in Granada for 35 years and has spent his entire career in the city.
He talks to us about the tradition and the guitar makers of Granada. He talks about his different guitar models, both the Concert model and the copies of Antonio de Lorca, Arias, Santos Hernández and Simplicio that he has made in his professional career.
He tells us why he considers Santos Hernández to be the best guitar maker in history.
He also talks about the book of the guitar makers of Granada, which was one of his projects.
And much more.

Great interview!……Alberto in effect what you’re doing is compiling and promoting a catalogue of the Granada guitar luthiers……a visual compilation of the book of the guitar maker of Granada.I hope the book is available in the future. Great stuff!….buenísimo!

I love your content about Granada Guitar makers. I recently bought a guitar from Jose Marin Plazuelo and hope it will arrive soon. I think especially Marin guitars are the best in the World.

He is one of the best in Granada. I am sure you will love it. Same construction and sound as his uncle Antonio Marín. He is together wit his uncle at his workshop since 1974 when he was a little boy and started cleaning the space and doing some help for the master @peda0976

@@maderaguitarras very interesting thank you. Yes I have seen Pictures of the Workshop on your Blog. Is there a chance for a Video in Marin Workshop?

Antonio Marin is one of the nicest persons I've ever met. But he is not fond of making videos and interviews. So I don't want to bother him about it. Thanks!

Thanks for the discussion. Some people call Enrique Gomez the Stradivarius of the guitar. Any thoughts on his legacy as it applies to your work?

Hi Mark. I think you need to ask directly to him about it. Probably in internet you find some John's contact info. Thanks!

Is there a part 2? Seemed to end abruptly
@maderaguitarras
@maderaguitarras 7 ай бұрын
No. That's it. Many times in the interviews we end it like that. In an abruptly way. The style. But we will take in consideration with the new ones to finish it more smoothly. Thanks!

Guys, I love you and your content. But please find a way to stabilize the camera and improve the audio quality for these kind of interviews: it really gets you the headache when the camera is so wobbly and such a poor audio quality makes the entire content less enjoyable. Btw, thank you so much for what you do!
