Thanks for posting the video. It does strike me that what made Accu-stats videos really great was that Pat Fleming would keep the commentators on point when they would deviate from commentating on the match. I am a Johnny Archer fan so it was nice having him as a commentator.

Any commentary is better than no commentary, having watched matches with none. Your device probably has a volume control somewhere. You can always turn it off. Great match, thanks for posting.

Thorsten didn't scratch back at 1:03:05 because he was on one foul already. John got to the table for his big run following Thorsten's pocket scratch

well allow me to recall some ancient history iwas about 35 years old john had to be 14, we were playing in our 3rd c class 9 ball tournemebt ib hesperia calif. i managed to beat john for the 3rd concesecutive time , and afterr my next match i retired to give an extraordinarily gorgeous viet namese gal a teen ager at a shot to win this weekly event , which i had won twice , i dont recall the overall winner but i do recall this 14 year old kid asking me if i wanted to play 9 ball 5 dollars a game , i bit . he had laid down 3 tournaments in a row to insure id say yes . OMG gina, he had desytroyed me 8 games in a row , all his lil cronie friends cackling the entire time , he had set the hook and was now playing with me in game 9 i made a legal push to this situation cue ball on the first diamond of the head rail 8 ball on the exact other diamond of the head rail a single diamond between the cue and the 8. the 9 ball is center diamond foot rail . thats what i left hin cue and 8 ball a diamond apart frozen both cue and 8 to the top rail , 9 ball center diamond frozen to bottom rail , make that you lil mofo is what im saying having laid down the best safety of my life . enter 14 year old john the local god of hesperia california , which by the way way is the dead center capital of the asshole of the united states especially ppol wise. now hear this john using the same house cue he had been using raised up on the 8 ball jump shot style sans jump cue , and luanched the cue ball up and i mean up , it lands on the 8 ball, which leaped, it did not roll , almost as high into the corner pocket never touching a thing but the bottom of the pocket, meanwhile the cue ball hits the playing surface of the table bounces up again and on its decent hits the edge of the rail and starts rolling south it stopped 8 inches from the 9 ball 1 quarter inch from the bottom rail, a oerfect duck which he popped in his lil friends laffing thier combined asses off , i took out 45 dollars and assured him my mother didnt raise a fool and quit . i couldnt touch 14 year old johm schmidt with a sawed off 12 gauge point blank, i saw something that night i knew the world was going to see john schmidt aint no joke he aint no fluke , he despite whatever has happened since, he told me he wanted to go to the pga tour, is capable of top 1 % of pool god greatness, at 14 he had not struggled for those talents they were born into him , and any of the recent greats that he has both wonn and lost to, i doubt even earl could hold him off ever in pool and golf ,john you gave me the abolute tie story of my pool life when you were 14 , when i was 15 a couple came into the brunswick king of prussia pa bowling alley pool room . im shooting not paying attention my buddy dave was 14 and better than me but im kicking his ass this day , his gf maureen martin is saying that girl has a nice cue, doesnt get my attetion , mike fusco fron the roosevelt blvd billiards scial and athletic club made my cue for 54. dollars brother of jimmy fusco, maybe youve heard of him maybe not . maureen keeps say wow nice shot nice shot nice shot did you see that shot ok i look, then i turn to my 2 best friends in the world and said dont you know who that is? i dont wait for an answer im 15 and i walk right up and said you are jeanne balukas and may i shake your hand? she says yes i am and shakes my hand , i turn to my friends and say this is the womans world champion more than a few times to boot i am in awe , but my mouthy buddy david robbins , rest in peace my chilhood friend, and in a lot of ways my hero, says i can beat any woman in the world remember he is 14. so what happens? she agrees to play him 1 game race to 50, omg my buddy is playing jeanne balukas in straight pool here in king of prussia, he loses the flip he breaks and she cold ran 50 like it was nothing. hows that for a lesson in humility. the best dave could manage to say was he could beat any woman but her . im still laffing. god honest true stories both of them im now 66 years old i live in florida i play apa masters and 1 season of bca tavern league i was top shooter in bca i went from 400 to 536 in 60 games 1 season and my first year in apa masters i took my team all but undefeated to vegas where my team got slaughtered but i won both of my matches, against level 9 team captains both of them the derby boys round 2 , we got a bye, and i came back frm 4 to 1 in 8 ball to win 6 9 ball games in a row. following day the hotheads captain, from texas lost 3 to 2 in 8 ball won 5 in a row in 9 ball . that was august 7th and 8th 2023. we did not advance but i had always wondered how i would play on the the big amatuer stage , i crushed them both in comebacks and those are the sum tolled stories of my pool shooting life thankyou for even jogging the memories.now if there a re a couple level 7 players that want to play 2 level 7 players from st petersburg fl. just get in touch, and we will show you what an old man and his younger buddy are capable of . 20 bucks minimum race to 11. per game come get some you want some . we are both level 7 apa ranked players you be the same and we got a match .

Johnny Archer is the announcer who did not realize Thorsten was on a foul and criticized his safe. It was a bad safe and as one person pointed out, if it could not be executed, perhaps another intentional was in order, with a possible three straight fouls.

I guess it was not worth a try... Mean even if the cueball travels 2 feet longer which he intended to and the 5 is not lined up dead combo into the corner... The risk was too high, maybe a 50/50 chance which is not necessary to calculate against a monster like John Schmidt.

Exactly. He was basically sparing himself a foul that wouldn't in ANY way benefit him. But that's just an issue of recollection - and thorsten recognizing the innevitable; that john was extremely unlikely to make an error in executing a safe-foul. John does play mildly unorthodox in spots, but he KNOWS he's a world class shot maker and subconsciously allows for excuses to showcase that talent. He's also a bright guy and recognizes problems a little further ahead than others note. Gr8 UL THX!

1:06:00 JOHN PLAYS SO FAST (love it) that the commentators don't have time to talk shit and second guess him. John is playing loose, like a boxer that throws big punches. IF JOHN doesn't have time to second guess then you commentators don't either!

Johnny is absolutely right, it was a horrid safe by Thorsten. You don't play that ball jacked up to go 18 feet around the table back to where it was, you play it to lay on the head rail, no matter if your on 2 or not. Taking 3 and re-breaking doesn't matter if your a 400 ball runner. Thorsten is supposed to be "The greatest 14.1 player today", That was a B class shot at best..

Around 1:03 when discussing the bad break by Schmidt they incorrectly think Thorsten is *not* on a foul and then refer to his "horrible" choice. It was fine - he was already on one foul (at about 24 minutes). Also the stream ends before the end of the match, although with just a stop shot and one more ball...safe to assume John wins:)

I don't really care for Johnny as much as I used to. He used to be a pretty humble guy. Now he's just a know it all, If Thorsten had made it to the diamond just past the side pocket that would have been a great safety. Shots just don't always go the way you envision them even for Johnny Archer. He needs to stick with pool and leave the commentating to someone else.
