The ref yelling out the shots is so unnecessary and incredibly irritating.

Three things, it is crazy how everyone is wearing a suit, the players and everyone in the crowd watching. And it is really annoying how the ref points at the ball they are shooting then points at the pocket they are shooting it in. All he has to do is call the shot, he does not need to point at everything with his finger, and if he did that to me I would tell him to stop with the stupid pointing. And finally, one of the men doing commentary said the players are thinking a dozen shots ahead, when there were only 6 balls on the table, lol. He is a fool, no pool player in the world thinks a dozen shots ahead, at the most they think 4 shots ahead, and most of the time you just think of the angle you need to get on the next ball. Sometimes you think 3 or 4 balls ahead, but never a dozen, ever, that is ridiculous, and his partner never told him he was wrong.

These two of the best that ever lived. I remember that day that he sent 568 balls and then went home without missing. Mosconi sunk balls like a wizard and finally was wore out. That record stood for years and he could have had he been younger could have definitely kept going.

what Dennis Orcollo does so well is either following the cue few inches forward or drawing the cue ball back af few inches. He even does this on long shots so effortlessly. Looks easy but we all know it isn't.

Not exactly textbook stuff, but he is an amazing potting machine ......... And you also have to understand that he actually got quite lucky 3-4 times before he got to the first 100. Some very nasty rookie mistakes with the tempo and the cueball position (that in most cases would have closed him out) but still had the fortune of good rolls from some of the object balls he came too close on ........ As I said, a very very good potter and so nice to see this run from a superstar of the game .......... In tournament play with other straight pool sharks, he would have to be much more careful with the cueball (and still maintain that golden arm/eye coordination 🙂) ......... personally, I dont mind shooting 100 perfectly controlled balls and use 50% more time .......... I guess its all a matter of playing style.

Back in the 90s I’d go to the bar with $1 and play for a $1 a game I’d always leave with $150+dollars and i would blow the money and come back the next day and do it again all playing 8 ball. I once played 3 ball cracked a 1 on the break and took home a $300 pot the town guy who though he was a big time gambler Got so mad at me I could see the smoke and fire in his eyes lol!! Junior Malone the gambler was his name.

obviously, the rule for safeties was different back then: there were many instances where they shot the cue ball and it contacted either no ball or no rail......
