@Šime Ikić well, but in the end it's still music, isn't it? and you yourself have to admit that they actually make good songs, with catchy lyrics, complex guitar riffs and most importantly they build up this strong energy between them that is extremely rare nowadays. you sort of have to learn to differ music itself from the life and stories of the musicians behind of it. David bowie was also a junkie and did some fucked up shit, but he's an iconic musician. Im not excusing anything, but I just want to make you aware of that. in the end they still made two iconic records (Blood sugar sex magik and californiacation).

@Šime Ikić Couldn't you say the same about any movie, book, story, anything thats ever existed? Keeping your children hidden from reality is what causes them to revolt and cause do wrong in the first place, they just want to share something with their kids that means a lot to them.

No, the reasons behind John not playing Josh stuff besides the fact that personal wise their friendship is off, the band's introducing new material of over 40 songs, hits, deep cuts, jams and even covers needed to be rehearsed and master for enough time, where learning josh era songs must be put in the side and eventually be left out by the band. And there's some things that we need to consider

Musically he is the most important contributor. He wrote a ton of stuff, his guitar playing is insane, when he joined the band crystalized that "RHCP" sound that they had been refining in the first 3 albums, yet because of his different use of his guitar, from dirty and direct to layers upon layers of music, albums like Californication, By The Way, and Stadium Arcadium sound entirely different Plus, at age 19 played the guitar as well as Flea plays the bass today. The guy is very modest and maybe also feels he comes after because he was not a founding member. But they would have never been this big without him, he elevated their level absurdly

The subjective nature of music itself relates to the listeners. It's subjective because people are exposed to different things and thus "like" varying types of music. Quality of music is much less subjective. We, as a society, have collectively understood what we consider to be "good music" so we have an understanding of what to achieve. Otherwise, no music would be objectively good or bad and then me smashing my head on a piano would be considered equal to Beethoven's 5th. It would all be considered music, which is stupid. So we define good quality music by the effort that the musician puts into it. Yes, it's still subjective but we look at it more objectively in reality.

What I associate the best RHCP albums with: *BSSM* : A rapid, funky, slinky, raw simple yet powerful sound. Transmuting the sexual energy and just using the youth energy to create elegant vibes of sexy riffs and music. *Californication* : I associate it with re-birth (Scar Tissue), celebrating life without having to indulge in short-term highs (Get On Top, Right On Time, Around The World), the darker side of life and addiction, (Otherside), recovering from superficiality (Californication), forgiving yourself (Road Trippin). *BTW* : Learning to live the new life and accepting the highs and lows without escaping reality, accepting that you're vulnerable, facing the imperfections and character flaws and embracing them instead of hiding from them, becoming addicted to something powerfully creative and productive (Can't Stop). *Stadium Arcadium* : Welcome to the machine. We're here to stay. We've risen, fallen, tumbled, stood, but we'll continue on (Dani California & Snow Hey Oh). This is the weird, exceptional, and strange about these records John talked about (for me).

You ask yourself would anyone listen to this in 20 years? 99% of today shit would get a resounding no. But RHCP belongs to that group of artists whose music from 35 years ago is still being listened to because great music is virtually timeless.

There's something about the way you guys recorded it, in that beautiful mansion in the Hollywood hills, which validates what you're saying here. There's a chemistry with the four of you together which supercedes the music, like the music is just an expression of the connection you all have together. OMG!! i thought i missed them because they an old band ...to hear they were touring gave me a one last chance to see them live...sure hope this damn covid didnt rob me of that chance...be pretty bad ass if yall toured together...still remember yall on alan thick show...i thought you were new wave at first...lol...that movie with Anthony and flea in that monster truck still cracks me up!!! Unpopular Opinion: By The Way, Can't Stop, This is the Place, Universally Speaking, Throw Away Your Television, Don't Forget Me, Midnight and Venice Queen are great tunes. But the rest of the album is cheesy and feels like filler, the least good of the Frusciante era albums.

I am feeling so so interested and curious to find out what the sound is going to be like. I really feel each album has been so different in their own right, even in genre, atmosphere etc. I find it so interesting to see how artists change and with the amount of dedication John has to every type of music I wonder what the Impact of it will be on their sound. I just can’t imagine what it might sound like.

Aww, John! No! Your talent is everything that made, and makes, the band. All of the talent of every single one of. you in the band is THE band. Because no matter how much you promote and sell something, if it has got no substance, nothing will come out of it, no one will buy or listen to it, and no name would be made from it. RHCP remains as solid as ever because so many of us still look for and listen to the music RHCP brings. And we still do that because the music is nothing short of greatness.

I keep trying to describe my feelings with words, but there don't seem to be any. I'm a empathy, I can feel so much energy through John's music especially. In Niandra, there is a ton pain and frustration and sadness. Stadium is very Zen and peaceful. I am so excited to see what this new album feels like now that John has a new appreciation for his own abilities! 💜

Absolutely agree with John, for me the best metric for "good" music is longevity. Anything can get marketed to high sales when it's released, and you can't really come up with arbitrary rules about the music itself because different people like different genres, but if people are still listening to it decades later it must actually be good.

I'm so excited to hear their new material. To see how he's grown during the time between Stadium Arcadium and now with the Mars Volta and on his own. Still think they should have kept Josh on. John is a very interesting case. I largely respect his love for music being what matters and not caring about fame and fortune because that shows how pure a musician he is, but I also feel like sometimes he came accept how popular the band is and that he's a large reason why their so popular to begin with. he never wanted to be famous and that's ultimately why he left the band the first time was because all the fame happened so fast and he couldn't deal with it. I know that he doesn't care about the perks that come with the bands popularity but I just really hope he knows how many lives he's changed and even saved, and how many people he's inspired. he really has done so much for so so many people just by being himself and doing his awesome stuff on guitar. whether he wanted to be so well known or not, he really cant discount the impact he's had on millions, possibly billions, of us. im not really sure why he left In '09, because by then the band had already taken a break for a few years after years of constant work from californication to stadium arcadium. and I bet a lot of people thought that was the for sure last we'd hear from him or at least the definite end of the line for him being in RHCP. all in all he's such an important figure in music and has helped so many people and I just hope he knows that people love him
