The guys in Duran Duran have always stayed humble. Thats why they are well respected till now. Even through good times and bad, they remained steadfast!

These guys (Duran Duran) were secretly admired by all the guys in the 80s, but were afraid to admit it then. Today all those closet DD fans from all over the world have come forward and supported the band. Just look how they still sellout stadiums all over the world today! New York, Los Angeles, London, Manchester, Tokyo, Milan, Rome, Rio de Jeneiro, Buenos Aires, Canada, all of Australia and more. They are seriously a super super global band today!

The most underrated bass player out there. It pains me that he doesn't get the recognition he deserves as a bass player. His basslines always have the groove and the complexity that makes them great. #playthatfuckingbassjohn

Spot on. My two favourite basslines are Rio and Girls on film. The fact that they come so early in his career, speaks volumes about his ability.

Love JT's humility! 43 years in the music business and he still looks sensational. I just loved the interview and JT! Thank you for having him.

Duran Duran definitely had an impact on me but so has John as a person and musician. I discovered his solo career and his musicianship within Duran Duran. I have gotten to know about bass playing through him. I am totally amazed by John and his part in Duran as well. And he's also easy on the eyes!

What a great interview!! As a female fan it’s so great to see someone (a guy) who really appreciates them from way back when who wasn’t just in love with them, but who also feels their music is the fabric of our lives! 👍

DD has never been super cold! John, I adore you! ❤️. Great to see this interview. DD takes their time with their music, so it's quality, not quantity, another reason they're still going.

I, too, was 11 in March of 1983. I remember the moment. I'm at my grandma's house. It is a Saturday, and there is an American bandstand in the afternoon. Dick Clark had started showing videos on the show. That day was Duran!! I sat in my grandma's gold leather chair. I pulled up close to the TV. And I have witnessed. Is there something I should know? Yes, there is, this band in all their glory!! My DD 🎉 birthday.

In regards to when you saw Duran Duran Jason, it would have been in 1984 when Duran Duran was supporting their Seven and the Ragged Tiger album. The tour was called Sing Blue Silver and started in Canberra, Australia on November 12, 1983. Duran Duran started their North American leg of the tour on January 30, 1983 at the Saddle Dome in Calgary, Canada and reached your end of the woods, per say, at the Montreal Forum in Quebec, Canada on March 7, 1984. I have been a fan since I first heard Hungry Like The Wolf on the radio during the summer of 1982 in Seattle, WA (USA). Seeing the video for Hungry Like The Wolf came shortly after my audio experience to the song, and I was just as blown away by the video- but more so by the audio. I say this because many people attribute Duran Duran to their videos, which is rightfully so since they were the pioneers of making phenomenal videos. However, at the same time to me, even more so, it was their brilliant sonic chemistry and songwriting that was first and most impressive than their videos. Great interview and a pleasure to watch.

New sub, I've been watching everything D2 (fan since 81-82 as a 12 year old, similar to you), since they do have this new album they're doing so many interviews & yours came into my sights Thank you for this. I know you're more excited than I over this (had I done the vid, I'd be in your shoes fangirling like you're fanboying it). That said, again, thank you!!! JT has come into his own as a great bassist! & His tutorials were amazing! I can't wait to see your next interview!! (& I'll definitely go back & was the 1st few).

Great interview! I know it had to have been a huge honor for you to be interviewing bassist, John Taylor. If you want to blame anybody regarding the lack of exposure and airplay Duran Duran has received over the last 3 decades, you can blame MTV and traditional radio stations in America because they basically blacklisted most of Duran Duran's music videos and other songs since 1993. It wasn't until a few months ago, I discovered that Duran Duran NEVER stopped making music. I'm still reeling over the fact that they had a music video for "Out Of My Mind," which was played at the end of The Saint in 1997 and is on The Saint Soundtrack. MTV NEVER played that video! Even though I'm not as old as you are, I was born literally 1 month after Duran Duran's Rio album was released. According to my mother, I was a 1 year old squealing with laughter at fans getting splashed with the CGI waterfall, when their music video for "The Reflex" played on MTV. Here I am at almost 40 and old habits die hard. I still laugh at that scene every time MTV Classic plays "The Reflex."

I'd say you can get elements of funk in Duran Duran's My Own Way single released in November 1981 and especially with New Religion off the Rio album released in 1982, prior to the Notorious album as referenced in this interview. You can hear that funkiness with Andy Taylor's guitar in these two songs.

Such a nice interview. I've been a fan throught their entire career, I was 12 years old. They and Bowie, in my opinion, cannot be touched in talent and humility. I would give anything to be a fly on the wall with Nick, the controller, creating videos. Thank you for this.

I've loved JT since I was 12. From his book I learned we have something in common.... we're half Scouse. Finally got to see them on Astronaut tour and I owe JT for bringing the opening band into my life. Saw them a second time Paper Gods and again the opening band seeing Chic was a bonus.
