John Travolta may be a thoroughly established actor, but he still has to fight for his roles. He and Rob Lowe chatted about that and more, including staying relevant in Hollywood and Travolta’s preparation for “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” for Variety and PBS’ “Actors on Actors.”

I know this is old but I don’t care lol. Notice how when Travolta complements Rob its very smooth and natural. Whereas when Rob complements Travolta, it’s suddenly halting and awkward. Now they both admire one another, but Travolta views others as above him, he’s looking up to others. Rob is the opposite, he views others as beneath him, he wants to set an example for others to look up to him. Both are great guys, just something to notice.

I was struggling trying to comment as I watched on an aspect I felt singled them out and gave up. Then Rob Lowe stated with perfect clarity what would have been a novella by the time I had finished, "… we are both character actors trapped in leading man's bodies." Brillant insight, well executed. 😏

You can find out new talents eventually striking talents but John Travolta and Rob Lowe undoubtefully belong to periods we will never reach again and they have proven they were absolutely fascinating and beyond expectations. I will never forget how Rob Lowe was pure, beautifully wounded in St Elmo's Fire and very magnetic in Bad Influence starring James Spader too. Travolta is as much as Tom Cruise and in an other way of course another untouchable legend made by the highly historical Saturday Night Fever, a piece of legend where Travolta was a strange perfection of an era, not even easy to describe with words. Such a hardworking soul too, very precise and deeply involved artist of legend. GOD BLESS THIS VIDEO OF THESE TWO SPECIAL PERFECTIONS.

amazing talk! Il send this to all directors I will work with in the future, understanding the essence of this puts the magic of acting in a nutshell, especially the part where Rob Lowe tells the story of the writer who wrote the piece especially for him, its great. The part where travolta tells why hes acting is honest, love it! You can find good things to tell to others like they do when your used to it, and we should do so regularly

ROB LOWE NEVER AGES!!!! He must either have great 'genes' or be on some sort of magical vitamin, diet, exercise regimen - OR its a combo of both. Either way he looks amazing for his age - like he is till in his 30's. I wonder if JT was just a little bit jealous???? This episode is the real 'FACE OFF", LOL ..... two of Hollywood's sexiest men who made their fortunes not only off their talent - but lets be 100 percent honest - their faces too!!!

6:24 "Blow Out" inspired Rob so much, he forgot the name of the movie. But this tells me so much about who John Travolta is! He could've corrected Rob on it, a less secure person probably would have, but he chose to let it go. Real people like John don't worry about such trivial matters. I wish more people were like that.

"I don't know who I am" interesting. I wonder if all actors feel this way. It must be crazy trying to find your identity while playing many other people while being a public figure that people know. Where people view you in a certain way while you don't know who you are.

I think it is interesting that Rob Lowe says he got his comedic flare from outside his family. I feel like if you are born with a gift it came from somewhere down the bloodline. It may not have came from his parents but o bet if he searched his family tree somewhere down the line there would be an ancestor with that trait. Just the way eye color may skip a generation i believe character traits do as well. Loved that question.
