This cinema drama follows the life of John Wesley from when he was saved out of a burning house as a child and thereby marked for life as a "brand from the burning." His Oxford days, a disastrous mission to America, his decisive Aldersgate experience, his bringing the Gospel into the daily lives of alienated masses, the founding of Methodism, and his astounding role in raising the moral and religious climate in 18th century England, and much more are set forth with careful dependence on the historical sources. John Wesley was one of the most influential ministers in all of Christian history, and this old but still potent film provides an excellent introduction to the major events in his life and the many obstacles he had to overcome.

Having a movie about historical figures is a great way of coming to know the real events in which they took part, and the movements that began from their teachings. I wonder how many people understand much about the Reformation of the 16th century? Some of the movies that cover the leaders of that era are very informative and are an easy way to learn about the Reformation. 😁😁😁👍👍👍👍

I remember in the history of our small island Samoa and the surrounding Pacific islands, John Wesley arrived in Samoa in the year 1835. It was after few years when a man named John William arrived in 1830 bringing the gospel and the light of Jesus Christ to Samoa and the Pacific. One of my favourite hymn by the Methodist ministry is ‘IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL’. Thank you for such a wonderful video.

A few of us from Mattersey Hall visited the house that the Wesleys' lived in Epworth, we had a guided tour and were told much about the fire and the teaching methods of Susanna, It seems she was a strict disciplinarian. I remember an entry from her diary that said 'the child is slow minded because she hasn't learnt all her numbers', she was referring to a toddler. His father was often in prison for debt and Susanna started a church in Her front room to her husbands annoyance.

I feel warmth in my heart when I hold a puppy. But then even puppies would go in the water to become born again as Jesus commands if they were told to do so because even they know their creator. It is not complicated. Read the Bible. See John 3 5. Hebrews 10 22. Acts 8 12. Acts 22 16. Mark 16 16. And Acts 2 38. Just to mention a few of many scriptures on the subject. Also morals and deeds does not get a person into Heaven.
