I appreciate you being honest that this isn't a first time reaction. I get the suspicion that sometimes some reactors claim a reaction is a first time viewing when in fact it isn't.
@EOMReacts

We've always been open and honest. There have been a small handful he saw a scene or two from or something, but we always will be open about it. Some of the bigger stuff we want to do are rewatches, but will be different. Harry Potter, J knows like the back of his hand. Maybe better. MCU, he knows, but it's been a while for most of it. Star Wars, he mostly saw YEARS ago and remembers plot points, but no details. But we'll always be honest here about what he's seen and hasn't. You all deserve no less.

John Leguizamo's bit in this, as Aurelio, is just about perfect. On a second viewing, from his facial expressions alone, you can *watch* him doing the mental math on how he's *not* going to be standing in between Wick and Viggo or taking any kind of side in what's about to happen.

He takes the jacket off and roles the sleeves because he is pissed and subconsciously wants to beat his son to death for his stupidity. After that hit he has a split second of calm clarity realizing that and put the coat back on as an act of self restraint to help keep him from overreacting. It is a rather brilliant little detail in the story telling.

Notice how at the start Viggo is pretty collected and calm? Throughout the film he gets more and more stressed and starts drinking heavily and by the end he's on that OOOOIIEEE . Fun fact 1 : guy who did the dog , felt so bad after he spent the rest of the day with the puppers playing with it Fact 2: doorman wasn't taking about weight , he was talking about how many guys were inside (Kevin Nash is always a win) Fact 3.the puppy at the end wasn't a random dog he stole, paperwork next to it had it slated to be euthanized, so John saved it's life too.

They messed with the wrong former assassin for hire in this action adventure thriller film! John Wick was originally going to be played by a much older actor like Harrison Ford, Paul Newman or Clint Eastwood. The dog wasn't just a pet, it was supposed to represent John having a normal life but when they killed the dog they took away his one chance of happiness.

"I heard you struck my son." "Yes, sir, I did." "And may I ask why?" "Yeah, well, because he stole John Wick's car, sir, and, uh, killed his dog." "Oh." Boom! HEADSHOT!! 😎 Fun Fact: Bacon grease was placed on Keanu Reeves' face to attract his dog to jump on him when he wakes up in bed. Action Star Fact: According to Keanu Reeves, he did 90% of his own stunts in the film. Of course, Reeves learned and memorized the nightclub fight sequence the day that the scene was filmed. Stealth Adaptation Fact: The security guard who waves Wick onto the airport runway is reading the 1970s thriller novel "Shibumi" by Rod Whitaker, under the pen name Trevanian, also about a retired master assassin dragged back into the game. The story Viggo tells about how Wick once killed three men "with a pencil" is describing a crucial scene from the same novel.

I, like so many others, would have loved to see your first time reaction to this movie. I know the first time I watched it, I was amazed at all the fight scenes and how rough and brutal they were. Definitely portrayed how deadly john is. Question: How is it that everyone knows him and the body count he had to get out of that life, and yet no one called in sick that day? 🤔

There are a lot of subtle things in this movie, but first... A while back I saw something about "Kung Fu" movies that also applies to Western action movies, too, perhaps more so. That is, they said that back in the 60s and 70s, the Shaw Brothers era more or less, the actors in the movies often had extensive martial arts or at least acrobatic/athletic backgrounds. That meant they could do longer takes in the fight scenes and could do acrobatic things. Later, there were fewer and fewer such people, so fights either shifted more toward guns or had a lot of short takes and lots of cuts. This is especially true of Western movies where they often have a cut per second or more because the actors don't have the background. Reeves may not, but he did put in the practice to make it look as good as it does without a million cuts. As for the subtle things, just a few. Note that Jimmy starts with his hat on then takes it off. A policeman I used to know said that the hat being on essentially meant business. Taking the hat off was kind of a step down, something they might do with a victim since it made their presence less official as it were. In this case, Jimmy was probably going for less official to say the least, as in "I'm not about to get into this and I'mmnot reporting a thing." John buried his past in concrete,mbut Viggo had his in a safe he could open. That said, John knew who to contact from memory but Viggo had to get a dusty phone book. Lastly, note that John casually had Harry covered in the hallway, and Harry didn't fully relax either. But were ready to go, they were letting the other know they didn't really want to. John may not have killed Perkins because of the no business on Continental grounds rule. Charon did seem to imply it would have been OK in this case, but even so, it was something someone else might have been able to hold over him later, so why risk it? After all, he didn't kill her during the fight.

I fell in love with Ian Mcshane watching Deadwood! God Tier actor. So glad you know him as Al Sweargen. Ian McShane got really popular from a hard to find BBC show called "Lovejoy"! Late 80's and early 90's. He plays an antique dealer but more of a sleuth, solving mysteries about stolen antiques and art with his wit and sarcasm. If you love him as Al, you will love this series. First season isn't the best but he is still amazing. Not sure it would make for good content but, he is amazing to watch!

My understanding for why Alfie Allen's character didn't know who John wick was is because John left almost 10 years ago. Alfie's character would have been 14-16and not involved in the family business yet, so there is no way he would have heard of his fathers super secret hitman.

Martini drinkers eat the olives at the end of the drink. The olive soaks up some of the gin and vermouth, giving it a special taste. There are two types of killers that look the victim in the eyes: The Michael Myers type who are psychotic and like to watch the light go out. It's an insanity that gives these types a love for murder. And then there's the Ned Stark type who understand that when you kill, you must be responsible for the reason for the depth of the act of killing another person. It's everything to do with being an honorable person with a righteous reason for what you're doing. John Wick is the Ned Stark type. He kills because he has chosen this path, it's a righteous kill, and he can't turn away from it. Just an opinion

Lots of killers had two loving parents. I think that has very little to do with it. I think it depends more on the chemical reactions happening in their brains, and their own unique view of the world, than it does on their upbringing. In fact, I would say that the broken home narrative is more of an excuse, than a cause.

As for asking about the olives in martinis (not just any drinks) olive brine when added to a martini is a “dirty” martini. Martini with a twist is lemon peel garnish. A dirty martini general calls for a splash of olive brine and 1 or 3 olives. Or 5 but never an even number. Olive brine does cut the sharpness of a martini cause it’s very savory. It makes for a well balanced drink in my opinion. But you should only ask for it in a clean, well run bar. Old olive brine that’s been sitting in the jar for months will give you a stomach ache. If you see lots of people with martinis and olives in them, you can assume they’re serving a lot of them and the olive and olive brines are both fresh.

John wick is a legend to them however dudes son may have heard of him just never cared about it nor knew what he looked like so he never truly learned who john wick was he basically just let it go in one ear and out the other cause hes off doing pettt crimes and play games so he never cares to learn about the things a grown man who care about like history honor etc. Thats what i believe is the reason his son doesnt know who john wick is. Heard about it didnt care then forgot about it. Prime example "ill can make this right." "DID HE NOT HEAR A WORD I JUST SAID!?"
