John, you are one of the smartest guys I know. Your ability to figure out mechanical movements and translate those to wood is simply amazing.

I work for a millwork company. My department makes custom doors. I built a new 4'x8' ft table today for my department, minus the 4ft wide drawer I want under the tabletop. I am 100% going to utilize this design, using 1x4 mahogany scrap that we've accumulated the past 2 years. You sir are a life saver!

John, I consider you to have the best mechanical minded person on you tube. My passion is lathe work, I have made most of the jigs that I use in my hobby. I definitely will be using this application to put new drawers under my new work bench that i built.

John you must have been a Tool & Die maker as I was for over forty years when I saw you pull out your calipers and measure, this is the way I measure also. Took a woodworking class for over twenty years at local community college they all laughed at me for measuring this close. Great tips on slides love your gear movement on vise, I think I would need a dividing head and Bridgeport to make this one. Your teaching skills are excellent keep doing what you love !

Thanks for being so inventive and sharing this. I've seen other takes on wooden full extension drawer slides, but none so simple and effective as these. As with all things that end up reduced to relative simplicity, I'll bet this took some thinking about!

John thank you for this amazing video and contributions to woodworking. Currently I am building a cart to go under the right of my table saw. The cart is going to end up with 5 drawers. I am looking at $105 for the 100lb full extension slides. My next build will be similar to your Large Toolbox build. In fact, I am toying with abandoning my current plan and just build two of your Large Toolbox builds. With a small shop, you want everything to be mobile. When I first started out, I caught some of your videos. At the time, they were way over my head. Now that I am on my third reorganization of my shop 6 years in, I really get your builds. Especially your drawer slides. Those drawer slides will save me great deal of money, and will go a long way in helping my understanding of mounting drawers.

I been wanting to convert some old drawers I have to full extension, I need 20 slides. They cost $20-25 a piece. Then in have an extra 6 drawers that i need to build from scratch. Thats over $650...just for slides.Right now I have a ton of pine left over from projects. Will definitely be using your method to make my slides. Glad I came across your vid, thank you for sharing!

Brilliant! I was looking for a locking slide for an application I was wanting to try, but couldn't find something that would work the way I want. This will allow me to make my own slide and add a lock at different locations.

I'm so happy, I have an endless supply of 2" wide plywood, I'm going to be making drawers for days! And drawers for black and yellow parts bins.

This is awesome! For some reason here in Portugal the metal full extensions I used to buy in USA for less than 10 bucks are over $30 here! Plus, these things solars gum up eventually. I like the idea of waxed sliding wood instead of the bearings

I made some of these with a minor variation. Instead of gluing the hardwood runners directly to the drawers and cabinets sides, i gluedthe hardwood runners to a piece of luan. Four per drawer. I did that so I could adjust them to fit, rather than calculated as my work is ahem, not as precise as Johns. They attach with eight countersunk screws each going through the luan. Rubbed some candle wax on the contact surfaces and the drawers slide like glass! Thanks John!

I had made a set of narrow drawers and improvised a slide which didnt work well. I found this and it was perfect. I was able to make my slides on the cnc using a template to hold 8 at a time and double sided. Perfect what a brilliant solution!

Sweet. Am building a sanding station for my oscillating sander and small belt/disc sander, and the room left for a small drawer to hold the misc. drums, discs, etc. is too short in depth to use metal ones, as the big box store’s shortest ones are 14” long. Will build yours. Did like the comment about eliminating the screw threads-to-slide contact, in order to minimize wear.

That looks pretty simple (after you've done all the hard work, lol) I've been thinking about adding a rawer to my hastily made desk, this looks perfect. Great video John.
