I used to work for the Canadian Circa distribution outlet a long time ago. The sponsored skaters would just come in and choose what shoe they wanted from the stock room. (I assume if you lived in a different part of Canada they would just ship them to you) After the Circa distribution warehouse closed down, the sponsored skaters would just have their shoes delivered, or they could go to the showroom to have a look. I think every shoe company has its own methods tho.

Etnies have always been the coolest skateshoe company for me. It's a shame it's not as readily available where I live, but I always sneak in a pair when I order skate products overseas due to the and high import product markups despite the limited number of options.

Etnies is the best shoe brand in my opinion and the Maranas are soo good! I skate both the regular shoe and the Marana slip on! Both work really well.

i really like etnies, but i gotta say i like their cup soles more. especially the og sole pattern like the rap, intercity, senix, etc. i got some screw mid vulcs, and i like them quite a bit for what they are. but i'd like to see them remake the og screw all suede cup sole version. and wtf es with dog shoes?

I have a pair of Etnies Kingpins just because I loved the massive mid 2000's style of them. Im not anybody in skateboarding but it has been many years since I rocked some Etnies. I came across John during lockdowns in 2020, been a casual fan ever since.

Really cool video. Thanks for the insight. It does make sense you could mess with other sponsors since you have a big KZfaq audience: KZfaq audience can be bigger than the fan base for a pro skater in the industry. Different platforms of viewership.

So some skaters aren't really sponsored, they are used as brand ambassadors for a brand local subsidiary, and if they become (famous) youtubers it makes things complicated because the brand would be required to actually legally sponsor the skater/channel/video and that is probably much more expensive than giving them some merch. I think Linus from LTT at some point talked about how he had to transition his business, because he had an actual payroll and brands wanted to keep "paying" him with motherboards.

The marketing in this case definitely worked. I want to check out the blue ones and the cream ones that you chose.

Very interesting. I love that blue on the shoes your wearing specifically the janowskis+ getting the rosewood team red this week I don't like paying full price for anything. I'm technically disabled so can't really improve my situation. So I try and watch the price. 67 uk I'm paying slightly better than the 80 for the blue so clean though that blue. Etnies reminds me of being young skating car parks. Many would argue i wasn't a skater, as I used those snakeboards. Much more fun imo. I picked that up straight away normal skating wasn't sinking in. I'm so happy they are making boards again. I can relive my youth.
