I think it’s so crazy to be a 24 year old woman looking back out all the shit that happened back then. I started watching his interviews when I was 14-15 and fell in love with his goofy ass hair and outfit and the way he was able to make everyone laugh. He seemed like a genuine dude and when mde came out I was so excited to have a channel of awesome emo KZfaqrs like you guys to watch (johnnie you were my first emo guy crush and I still find you to be adorable even to this day) but knowing what I know now. I definitely should not have watched some of the content from back then cause you’re so impressionable at seventeen that I thought those videos were okay. Being 22 almost 23, and looking back to when I was 11 or 12 and watching Bryan stars as I grew up, it really puts it into perspective just how inappropriate the content was. I don't feel grossed out by it, or violated, but I can tell it shaped me into the person that I am. I can't say that I'm not grateful, and during my early teenage years he brought me a lot of joy , seeing him interview bands that I looked up to. It's really sad how self destructive a person can be. But what he did to all of my digital escape, and each individual member is not OK. I'm glad that you guys are speaking about this, and I am genuinely sorry to any harm he may have caused. It wasn't fair to you guys, and I feel terrible that he pulled the wool over our eyes for so many years . I will look back on old Brian Stars videos from time to time, and put myself back to where I was back then. It's kind of a love hate relationship.

I think I was in 8th grade when I started watching your channel for the first time after my friend showed it to me. I freaked out when I found out MDE was coming out because you guys were so important to me at that age. I'm 23 now and married with two fur babies that I love very much, and it makes me smile anytime I see you upload because it brings back memories of my teenage experience. I still love all of you guys big time and even though Bryan turned out to be an asshole, I'm grateful for what you all did for me during that time in my life. I liked Bryan’s interviews. Thought it was weird he had a scene phase at age 26. The sexual themed content on MDE was so forced. It’s a shame because Bryan probably could have found some emos who were into that type of content. Instead he found ones who weren’t, but thought he could bring it out of them.

A lot of them were literally teens (like 16-19) when MDE started so it was definitely gross and off putting

I remember really liking the Bryan Stars interviews. It led me to being a big fan of My Digital Escape. when Bryan changed his hair, it just felt like he was trying too hard to be like all the teens. Once he did that, it felt like he was a creepy uncle. I wish he would have just accepted that none of us were going to look like those kids, haha! Believe me I tried.

I remember going to the Orlando show for the MDE tour and at the time I didn’t know the reason but I could sense something was off with the members. They seemed uncomfortable and just all around tired. The venue was also a tight packed bar and I genuinely felt they didn’t get their respected space and privacy. Im so sorry that you had to go through that Johnnie. And Im also sorry for the rest of the members that had to endure his awful person.

Dude I watched all of these damn interviews and always found those sexual questions to be "off." The scene was hyper sexualized then and seeing now how a lot of people/things got exposed recently, adds up. I remember when you and the rest of the younger group came on board and it just felt weird at moments. I was 17-19 at the time and looking back at it as a 28 yr old now, just insane. Happy you got out of that and it's unreal watching these "Rise and Fall" vids of him now. Dude completely went MIA.

This is my second time watching this video and all of this is so crazy to me. I was a huge fan of MDE back in the day (im 26 now so I was like early/late high school) and I fell off right before all of this drama came out. I cant believe I missed all of this! Im glad that Johnnie and everyone else broke out this manipulation and Bryan was exposed. Also, I was a fan of Johnnie before MDE and I didnt even know Bryan I found Johnnie first. Im glad I came back to the channel ❤

It really sucks Bryan went this direction like he did. Honestly such a bummer. The fact Johnnie can be confident in his transparency about it at this point is really honorable and impressive. So sorry Bryan was being this way toward you Johnnie and I honestly hope he didn't harm, groom, or do sexual advanced you while you were living with him. He could of handled the My Digital Escape stuff way better and he abused his power instead. My heart goes out to you and the members of My Digital Escape for having to deal with all this. None of you guys deserve it whatsoever.

I have to admit, MDE did get me through a lot of my teen years. Looking back, it´s kind of bittersweet in a way. I got introduced to my favorite bands to this day through MDE and the emo community. I don´t think I was ever a fan of Bryan, he creeped me out to no end LOL Glad to see you still make videos and rocking the look I also wanted when I was 13

It’s so fucking crazy how l lived thru all of this …being 13 and now 22 I actually found Bryan and johnnie way back then when they made videos by themselves first going on Omegle before MDE but it’s crazy how I remember seeing the start of MDE when they first announced the trailer and seeing it end and the after math I remember meeting mde At warped tour in 2015 it was like a fever dream I even had the johnnie merch with the bear on it and also being obsessed with NSN at this time I just felt so relatable to these people and now days when these type of videos pop up it’s so crazy that it’s been that long and I’m glad for videos like cozy representative and punk rock mba and johnnie still being around idk really know what to comment but all I know is these “tiktok “ “ king for a day emos” will never knowwwwww I agree that at the time being young I never really thought it was weird from all those sexual jokes I don’t even think people watched mde for that type of content i think it went over our heads I think as for me at least i just would look up to the style and I remember being obsessed with Alex’s instagram and wanting to be like them as people not really the content they put out I don’t even think I laughed I was probably just like aw Kyle looks cute Or Alex hair is so pretty.. johnnie is so shy and awkward like me ! .. etc idk dude shit was crazy 😂

our story is so similar ! i'm almost 20 now, and despite 2015-2018 is a blur to me, i remember warped so vividly. bryan towered over me, and i later went to a segment he held at the seattle date. it was so bananas to me when johnnie came back into my timeline (defninitely not disappointed) but yeah, the jokes mostly went over my head until mde pretty much ended. some i noticed and weirded me out, but others ??? not so much. i remember a lot throughout this era of the internet, but wow ,,, it's just insane and was insane when all of this happened. i remember watching the crash and burn of bryan + the mde channel

I didn't even realize what happened to me was gr00ming till my twenties when there was a word for it & it was talked about. It was just like... So normal back then. Going back thru my memories it's like, so much of it was that, and only a few of the prominent ones faced any justice. How tf is Jeffree star not buried alongside dahvie vanity as an eMo predator warped tour relic where they rightly belong & is now just like a makeup guru and somehow finally got successful?? Shits just. Crazy to think about. Lawless. The scene, the internet, warped tour, just absolutely lawless & unmoderated/supervised whatsoever

As someone who was a fan of mde had an alternative phase we all kind of had to know who this guy was during that time. He was involved in a lot of stuff. It just sucks that it had to be that way he is a major eye sore when we all look back on these years. He wasn't supposed to be there along with all the other weird predatory people who were apart of the scene.
