The BBC did a tribute to Johnny Cash after he left the room "The Last Great American". Well certainly one of the greatest singers to set foot on The Opry Stage or anywhere. Great singer, writer, magnetic star - am I a fan? Hell yeah. Yippy yi yo, yippy yi ay John R Cash - Legend R.I.P and to put the GRITSky debate to bed, Cash's version is definitive both on disk and live . . .

@1stREMESquaddie I remember in 1964,I was eight years old and living in Lacey,Washington. My dad had the Johnny Cash album ''Ring of Fire''.everytime I hear Johnny Cash,I think of those days......Johnny Cash was a national tresure.I think you are right on,I don't know ANYONE who had such great voice control at lower ranges. He was a REAL MAN,not some pussified eunuch who is emasculated by our ''culture''..He is indeed, singing before God,who I have heard is a Johnny Cash fan! Semper Fidelis!!

True, because there are all types of junkies aside from heroin. Johnny Cash fought his demons and publicly. And he still managed to inspire millions and save lives. He was a rare man. He even accepted Hippies back when his contemporaries were beating them up, if they strayed into their territory. Cash was a true "Holy Man" - a universal one. And I am an atheist. He would have accepted me too.
