All these singers in the charts will be forgotten about in a few years, Johnny will be remembered forever!!

Kris Kristofferson wrote this song when he was at his lowest and before he became such a wonderful writer of songs. This was a story of his life and how he lived and the emotions he felt back in those black days. Johnny Cash sings it from his heart as he can relate to other people that have gone thru hard times just like he did in his early career. Love you Johnny and still miss you. RIP

Very much greatness in this, btw KK had written other great songs prior, but Johnny was a very busy man and did not give KK the listening to find this out in the early years, so KK landed his Helicopter in Johnny's yard I believe to get his music to the Cash to hear his stuff, btw, lilkely drinking and living this song all the days while, Kris had to do the double time to get recognized as artist, and was intimately involved with Ms. Janis Joplin, though most likely all know what I just added....

Michael Waller Thank you for letting me know how KK became friends with Johnny Cash - something I never knew. I have been following Johnny Cash ever since he began his career in Country music back in the late 50's and 60''s and I am stilling finding out various aspects of what made him the greatest Country singer there ever will be. KK is another writer of songs that comes from his heart and experiences of life. Another song I love that KK wrote is "Why Me" that can help anyone that is going thru a rough time in their lives.

The greatest male country singers of all time, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Roy Orbison, Conway Twitty. No need to go any further than that. What has happened to country music today, it has lost its way. As far as the women singers, Loretta and Tammy have my votes. Loretta is still with us, but how I miss all the above, they will never be replaced.

This video is from Johnny Cash's television show. Kris Krisofferson, the song writer, was sitting in the balcony. The TV censors had told Mr Cash he could not sing the line, " Wishing Lord That I was Stoned" it was not acceptable. Well the show was live. Being Johnny Cash and true to who he was, sang the line out of respect for Kris. The rest is history. A friendship and love till death. Forever ours.
