Running Time: Part One - 5:30 minutes
John Carter Cash, the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash, speaks candidly about his legendary fathers writing and recording of the music that would become his final album, American VI: Aint No Grave. During these final recording sessions in May of 2003--less than four months before he passed--Johnny lost his wife June to surgical complications. According to producer Rick Rubin, "Johnny said that recording was his main reason for being alive. I think it was the only thing that kept him going.
This part-one-of-two short documentaries features music and interview footage of John Carter Cash talking about the recording of the songs that made up Johnnys final album. Also included are iconic film and images of Johnny around his writing cabin in Tennessee throughout his American Recordings career.
The Man in Black may no longer walk this Earthly realm, but through his music, Johnny Cash is very much alive and well and living among us.

June saved Johnny. The love she gave him through his 'bad times' saved him. That's true love. It shows in their singing together, their eyes shine with love for each other. Rest in peace, Mr and Mrs Johnny Cash.💕 I'm from New Zealand. A lot of fans here. R.I.P.

Did you ever watch “My Darling Vivian”?? Before June was Vivian. We all have different lives. I’m on my 3rd as was June and my husband now of 23 years is my life. But I think Vivian was a good woman and was left by him, and I was left too by my children’s father for 12 years. As much as June and Johnny were great, he and Vivian had 4 girls he abandoned. I watched GODSPELL ROAD and am happy he found Jesus…..and was baptized. But I can’t forget Vivian. How it pretty much destroyed her life. I guess God will be our Judge….

We all agree that Johnny Cash is a legend. What a legacy. Thank you for this video! This is when music was still respectful. And Johnny was a respectable man to the end. We all make mistakes, but if we repent, God is faithful to forgive us our sins. Thank you Johnny Cash for a lifetime of good music. May the good Lord be with ya...

I Lost my Mom in May of 2011 and my Dad in September of 2011 we buried my Dad 4 mo to the day that we buried my Mother they both liked Johnny and June and I learned the day that I lost my parents that as long as you still have those you love with you at the end of the day no matter what went wrong that it was a good day! A Bad Day is when you loose someone you Love aside from that the rest is just life! And that no matter what age you are when you loose them both you feel like an Orphan 😢 My Daddy died from a broken heart 💔 he spent almost 50 years with my Mom and he just couldn’t live without Her. They had their troubles and their fights even almost split up,but in the end I learned threw my Parents what Them Wedding Vows Truly Meant! Johnny and June also knew what True Love was and What their Vows to each other really meant as well! For Better or For Worse For Richer Or Poorer In Sickness And In Health. And Forsaking All Others Stay Only Unto Thee Till Death Do You Part! 💙💖❤️🖤

"Ain't No Grave" was originally written and recorded by an old-time Pentecostal preacher named Claude Ely. It was written as triumph over death. Elvis's mother took him to see Claude Ely preach at tent meetings. Bro. Claude died of a heart attack in a church service while playing the organ. His nephew still travels the country, preaching and singing.

I've been praying for God to direct me through a terrible breakup. I've been infatuated with Johnny Cash for the longest time. I've just watched this now. My breakup was with a guy who's surname is Cash. I sent Johnny's song "hurt" just a few days ago. Johnny Cash's day of passing is my birth date and I'd noticed this on his gravestone in the video. Even the inscribed verses on the tombstones are very intimate to us. Tell me again there's no God!? I would've imagined Johnny meant that he's going to Heaven. He was a believer, even thought many would doubt that. He meant no grave would stop him reaching Heaven.

I wondered where his son was "John Carter Cash" . It was good to see him in this video. I know he was happy to finally get a boy . I hope his girls are doing well. It surprised a little when he said he was 71 years old, cause he looked much older. It was probably the drugs he took. Drugs will make a person age much faster than otherwise. I am glad he was able to get his life back. I think when June married him, it was the key to his getting better and we'll again. I just wish so many times that the same would have been true for Elvis. Johnny was friends with Elvis also. Now they can both sing together up in heaven with the angels and Glen Campbell too. Can you imagine what God's Holy choir would sound like? I bet it really amazing. God bless everyone through the holidays and everyday there after!!!😇😇

Although Walk The Line was a good movie and great acting, it only showed the dark side of Johnny Cash with his drug problems etc. It never depicted the Johnny Cash who helped hundreds of artists develop their careers and put them on the map. Just two of these were Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson. In the musical business he was everybody's friend. I am so disappointed that they didn't have Walk The Line part two or something as I am sure it would have been a smash hit too. What a force this man was, a great singer, musician and songwriter, he ticked all the boxes and he was Country Music
