Only panic attack I ever had was meeting the man who choked me in the back hall of the courthouse accidentally, while we were both arriving for our court date. He was in custody but I went into full flight, sprinted away around several corners and hyperventilated for a few minutes behind a bench. Court staff definitely noticed. It's not something you can fake. You can also try not to react but if someone has looked you in the eyes while choking you completely out...you can't just react normally.

I personally couldn't. Dropped everything (legally), decided I was moving on or else I'd surely die.
