Yea, Johnny pulls out that voice from time to time. Especially around shy kids, it’s to make them feel more comfortable. Johnny will use that voice to make himself feel more awkward around the kid, so the child won’t feel so uncomfortable around him. Cause of the “Johnny Depp” thing. The kids will relate more to Willy Wonka, than Johnny Depp. So he’ll become Willy Wonka when around those kids. Or he’ll act like Captain Jack Sparrow, the kids love that character too. It’s a genius move, actually. Willy Wonka is a character most children know from the movie. So, the voice is familiar to them. I don’t think Johnny ever expected that voice to “take” or for people to like it. I think it stuns even him sometimes. Johnny also didn’t expect his “capt Jack Sparrow” character, the way he did it, for everyone to love it either. He doesn’t expect to “keep” the characters or their voices after he’s done with the film, but that’s part of him. Sometimes he has to come to terms with that.

@@Lazarus404he’s far more *dynamic* than any of them-though they’re all great too. There are many, many great actors…but I think a talent like Johnny Depp only happens once in every lifetime. He’s played every type of character; and most recently did a French film and frickin spoke in all French! I know he was with Vanessa for super long so it makes sense-but still! In an interview with Dakota Johnson, she mentioned that during filming she was just in awe while watching him work, and even missed a line because she was so captivated by his transformation. I think a huge part of it is that he has zero qualms about making extremely BOLD decisions as an actor-for the character-that have paid off in every instance that was approved of, at least (haha-I mean, he could have wanted to do something different for a character but the director may have guided him from going that far). But it’s been those characters that he’s portrayed-where I can’t think of any other actor who would have developed such a unique, outlandish (in the very best way), intriguing character….thus, with any other actor the film simply wouldn’t be the same. The best example (or one of-but imo best) is captain jack sparrow. Every single decision about that character-other than the basics-was Johnny’s creation. It’s also incredibly fun to watch all of the films he’s done with Tim Burton-both are SUCH creative, imaginative artists which makes for incredible collaborations every single time….films they’ve made that are now considered classics would have failed miserably if another actor attempted to play the role. For example-EDWARD SCISSORHANDS! Always shown in classrooms (well who knows these days with everything being banned)…but try to think of any other actor who could have done that role the justice that Johnny did. But his ability to make the RIGHT decisions, depending on the role, is so cool to look back on. For example-in Secret Window (he’s done so many films that it feels impossible to watch them all! But this was a good one)-he played the total opposite of a fun, character-y guy who may or may not be a very disturbed killer. He actually did something very cool that was-shockingly-perfect for this character, as he very slightly *under*-acted…but to perfection. Ok I’m shutting my adhd self up
