He doesn't even seem like someone in his 90's to me, he looks like someone in his 70's. Alex looks like someone in his 60's and I don't think it's just the power of makeup. They both seem pretty young for their ages.

Johnny hosted a game show called "Beat the Odds" on local L.A. Television. I was a contestant back in 1969 on that show. He's a legend.

George Master you are correct. He is the last game show announcer ever. All of them are gone as well as the longest Saturday night live announcer dom Pardo.

For Johnny and Alex to be there from the top in Sept. 1984, and for both to be doing it for all those years straight (but especially Johnny, in how he said with all that gusto, 'THIS...IS...JEOPARDY!', and to be able to do it for that long and still to be able to do it even in his 90s)-- quite an accomplishment, especially on Johnny's part!

Johnny Gilbert is still going to this day! Though he doesn't announce in studio anymore. He records at home and his voice is dubbed in post production. Producer and former clue crew member Sarah Whitcomb Foss announces in studio

As I understand it, it was Johnny's leaving WLW-D, in Dayton, Ohio, where he hosted a show, that Phil Donahue found an opening for his talk show... which had some success over the years. A win-win, if you ask me.

Johnny Gilbert will turn 97 on July 13 2021 and I hope that we still have more time with him. It will be a very sad day when we lose him. What a career he's had. I'm sure Alex is waiting in heaven to welcome his friend.

Johnny Gilbert, the announcer on the $25,000 and $100,000 Pyramid with the host Dick Clark, Card Sharks, Supermarket Sweep, Dream House and including Jeopardy. He was the best announcers, just Charlie O' Donnell, Rod Roddy, and Gene Wood.

Tom Richards well at the very least Alex says he's going to finish his current contract which runs for I think 3 more years, but his age and Pancreatic cancer may say otherwise 😔Johnny I can see him going until the day he dies. He is semi-retired, Jeopardy is pretty much all he does now work wise.
