Johnny Hallyday was a huge star in France and other countries. He was an incredible singer, but if he hadn't had genius song makers like Jean-Jacques Goldman, and Michel Berger, his career would have stopped in the 80's. Unfortunately Michel Berger passed away too soon, but he had made many songs for other singers, himself and "Starmania". Jean-Jacques Goldman is the greatest song maker France has ever known. Many French singers owe him a lot for reviving their career, he made lots of songs for Johnny, Hallyday and Céline Dion but he has also written and composed a lot for many artists under a pseudo, so that people listen to the songs for the singer and not for him. Jean-Jacques Goldman retired in 2016, but sometimes he still participates to the writing or composition of songs for other singers. And after 5 years without seeing him, he is still the favorite character of French people. And i only talk about him as an artist.

A legend... 57 years of career. Almost 1300 songs in total.. By listening to these songs you will realize that this great singer was capable of singing everything.. A unique voice without equal.. His voice has only evolved over the years, it has become more and more powerful and precise.. He has done many exceptional concerts, crazy entrances like at the Parc des Princes in 1993 by entering from the back of the stadium and passing through the middle of the crowd for 3 nights in a row (no one had done that before him) and he did it again in 2013 at Bercy, in 1998 he arrived by helicopter above the Stade de France, in 1984 at the Zénith he came out with a giant hand, in 2012 at the Stade de France he arrived in a giant ball etc. To date he has sold more than 111 million albums, that's huge!! So imagine if he had had an international career... He brought together several generations. He brought together the rich, the less rich and the poor. He sang with several big international stars. He sang in several different languages. And many other wonderful songs...

Whether it was written by such and such people (Goldman) is of little importance. What counts is the rendering of a song, the voice and the singing of the singer. Without the extraordinary voice and the excellent singing of Johnny, well...

@murielle1703

Je comprends rien quand il dit Bananas. Il veut dire quoi en fait ?
@LetsChillPage
@LetsChillPage 3 жыл бұрын

Johnny Is called "Le taulier", meaning "the boss", because he is considered as the boss of all the singers in France. He has been doing concerts for all his life, and he's the one who popularised Rock'n Roll and Blues in France,for example. He's the singer of all the records number of concerts, of people going to the concerts, of sold records... He gave a free concert in front the Eiffel tower, he organised a huge road trip threw the road 66 with hundreds of Harleys, ending by a concert at Las Vegas, he arrived at concert at the top of Stade de France (Paris) by hélicopter... ... ...

Johnny Hallyday started his career in 1960 at the age of 17. He was a very big fan of American rock n'roll from which he adapted many songs in French (like many other singers of that time). He was a French superstar with a sixty-year career. He was a rocker like his friend Eddy Mitchell and his rival Dick Rivers (two other good singers). L'envie is one of my favourite song with Requiem pour un fou.

Here's a translation for the lyrics: L'envie Let me have darkness and then broad daylight Let me have hunger, thirst and then a feast Let me get rid of what is secondary and pointless So that life is worth living again, at last Let me work hard so that I enjoy sleeping Let me be cold so that I love a fire So that I love my land, let me be exiled And lock me up so that I can dream of women Chorus I was given too much before I had the urge I forgot to dream and to say 'thanks' All the things that are worth it That give you an urge to live, and desire too, And pleasure too Let me have the urge, the desire to want Let me rekindle my life Let me have hatred so that I cherish love Loneliness, too, so that I can love people So that I can love silence, let me have speeches And let me be poor to respect money So that I am healthy, let me overcome disease Let me have night time so that I love daylight Let me have daylight so that I love night time And to love today, forget about forever Chorus (2)

Johnny is the only artist in the world to have performed 3 dates in Stade de France on the same tour, 3 times in his career. And in 2009 and 2012 he made it 3 consecutive days. He was 66 and 69 at the time.

Dereck, in the end you will become unbeatable about french music 😀 Johnny, you like it or not, it's personally not my favorite, but no one could ever deny his incredible voice and his amazing career for multiple decades. He was a beast on stage ! He unfortunaly passed away and got national funeral with a speech from the french President. Undoubtly a monument and a great loss for french music.

Never been a big fan of Johnny, but can't deny that he was a national figure. And there's some songs I really love, like "Diego libre dans sa tête", "Les portes du pénitencier", "Que je t'aime"... Always been around, on tv, on radio etc. Fun fact: my father went to the army with him in Germany!
