Johnny Manziel enters a CFL game for the very first time and goes on to complete nine of the 11 passes he threw for 80 yards in his much anticipated debut for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Warren Moon had a great career there. Joe Theisman went there before playing for the Redskins. Kaepernick should go there if no team is gonna sign him. You can make money in the CFL. It better than sitting at home.
@sjames3046 жыл бұрын
There was a time that you could actually make more money in the CFL - in the 60s and into the 70s. Guys like Mack Herron and Tom Cousineau went to the CFL after drafted by the NFL and were paid very well. Vince Ferragamo was a high profile QB who jumped from the NFL in the late 70s to make a boatload of money in Montreal only to come back to the States after a disappointing CFL career. But the advent of insane TV revenue money put the NFL paycheck into the stratosphere. But the CFL still can be a place for the odd NFL star to make a splash ala Lawrence Phillips, Ricky Williams, Mark Gastineau, Rocket Ismail, Doug Flutie, etc. Hell, even Jim Zorn came up here for a while back in the 80s!

A little football history here. Feb 3 1912 the US college football rules committee changed the rules of football in the USA(there was no pro football at that time.) Added a 4th down, shortened the field to 100 yards, created the 10 yard end zone. allowed forward passes across the goal line and eliminated the 20 yard down field limit on forward passes.

It's due to the field being bigger and with there being only 3 downs, the extra running start gives a guy a slightly better chance to get open. All done in the name of offense.

@LethitaNemedian6 жыл бұрын
Dee the panther fan Im fine with putting Manziel on an NFL team as a solid backup as his past is mostly in the past now. Taking on Kaepernick means you're taking on all of his luggage still. His past is still very much prevalent is his present self and no one wants that on their team. If he leaves that stuff behind him and took playing quality football as his main priority, then he could be signed as a solid backup or potential starter for a team. But as of now, only Manziel really had a chance of getting onto an NFL roster, and he's gone CFL now so hopefully he can bring some of that NFL competition up there without making a mess of himself.

For all you American football fans out their . Check out on You Tube."CFL back in the day vs. America "Many NFL stars played in Canada including Joe Kapp, Joe Thiesman ,Warren Moon, Doug Flutie ,Cameron Wake,Tom Couseneau,Mervyn Fernandez,Jeff Garcia,Johnny Rodgers and many more.The Hamilton Tiger-Cats actually beat the Buffalo Bills in an exhibition game 38-21 in 1961 ,played under CFL rules.Pittsburgh Steelers beat Toronto Argonauts in 1960 at Toronto by a score of 43-16..in another exhibition game.
@steveniemyer92886 жыл бұрын
lawrence johnson lawrence johnson the CFL has never been close to the NFL in regards to competition. The CFL wanted to play American football teams because it brought in tons of money at the gate. When the Tiger-cats beat Buffalo it was the first time in 20 years any CFL team beat any American team and at the time Buffalo was an AFL team. Overall American pro football was 8-2 against the CFL, the CFL won the first and last game of the series. It should be noted The AFL was considered inferior to the NFL up until the mid 1960’s. The AFL refused to play any more international Football after that loss and the CFL also ended international competition due constant beatings from the NFL not only on the scoreboard but also on the field. The CFL lost many players to injuries when they played American teams. The CFL was always in mid season when they played the American Football teams who were in pre-season. Injuries sustained in these games cost several CFL teams playoff appearances. Warren Moon was one of the greatest of all times in both leagues and how Doug Williams was drafted in the NFL that same year and Warren Moon wasn’t still amazes me.
@erusstv6 жыл бұрын
Rowdy Jr. Yes, everybody says things like “the Browns suck” but actually they only suck in context to the NFL. The NFL is the highest level of competitive football on the planet. The Browns 3rd string bench would annihilate any professional football team outside of the US, no questions asked.

@gojomodu99346 жыл бұрын
DynastyKit There is inequality in everything in life. You are free to make good decisions and bad decisions and face outcomes. Just looking at a basic stat like the life outcome when raised without a father, it leaves pretty clear results in regards to criminality,violence,employment and education attainment. If a group is over represented in that stat at levels north of 80% you would have to be insane to expect that group to have equal related outcomes to a group with lower representation in that highly outcome effective stat. What a sad place this world is in when core fundamental issues can't be recognized and dealt with because blaming someone else is the easier option. Smh

I am from College Station, where he played ball for A&M, and having seen a lot of him I think that he looks similar to what he did during his first year. But, I think that he may have to work a bit harder to get to the top of his game, simply because he is medicated now. His reaction time, although it is hard to tell, seems a bit slow, which can either be a side effect of time spent away from the game, or possibly whatever medication he is on. The other negative things you can see from this series alone is the locking in a receiver. Granted, I know nothing about how football is played in Canada, and picking a single receiver pre-snap might be the norm. It is just that it is easy to get picked that way. With the negative aspects out of the way, here are some positives. First, he will likely be able to elevate the play of the entire team when he hits his stride. Second, it should not take him very long to adapt. Third, if the coaching staff can properly utilize his strengths and minimize exposing his weaknesses, while simultaneously improving those weaknesses, I think this team could go all the way to...whatever the Super Bowl is in Canada...? The Maple Leaf Bowl? The Ice Bowl?

Was there some kind of copyright law that kept the CFL from following the same rules as the NFL? It’s like everything is the same and then they said just make the field 10 yards longer and wider, take one down from them but let the receivers get a running start.
@saywhat67046 жыл бұрын
think u better brush up on the history of football..it was the americans who changed their game and not the canadians..americans had three down football and a longer field..americans were forced into a shorter field because many teams were playing in small and narrow baseball stadiums.
@clay44446 жыл бұрын
really? lol canadian football came first ya proud yank.
@dylanberry86796 жыл бұрын
clay4444 lol why are Canadians so insecure and defensive. I wasn’t disrespecting Canada at all, I was just asking why the rules are slightly different. Why not have one unified rule set for both countries. But of course anytime a Canadian gets asked a question by an American they get defensive because their so insecure about their own national pride
@dylanberry86796 жыл бұрын
Say What think you better brush up on it bud. Modern day football was developed in the 1800’s from a game played between McGill University in Montreal and Harvard University in Massachusetts. You Canadians can’t even be asked a simple question without getting defensive, there was literally nothing disrespectful at all about my question. Grow up
@dylanberry86796 жыл бұрын
clay4444 also the NFL was established in 1920, the CFL wasn’t established until 1958. And if you read my other comment you will see that modern day football was created from a game played between McGill University in Montreal and Harvard University in Massachusetts. Therefore neither country can say “Football was invented here” It was invented together. You Canadians are just soooo insecure you think everything is an argument or pissing contest

Rowdy Jr. Is that why your precious league has plummeting ratings, a commish at war with the players, teams leaving great, strong markets to play in front of flies...THOSE are reasons to dislike a league. 'The rules, the league itself, Canada's version on the game,...etc' Way to elaborate. Oh, and the CFL has been around for 105 years, btw. Must be doing something right, no? Kicks rocks...go watch your Seahags.
