Was at Little Caesars Arena a couple years ago, and was blown away, awesome modern rink! The whole complex that they have made with the rink, Ford Field and Comerica in Detroit is just simply amazing! A "stone's" throw away from one another. Parking was great, restaurants were amazing etc. Plus, seats always seem to be available at Little Caesars Arena for a decent price!

Just visited Minnesota’s barn. The whole vibe of the place is immaculate. They have a concourse with every hockey jersey from Minnesota’s High Schools (they truly are the “State of Hockey”). Every time they score, there’s a light tower that shines a red light around. And the theming of everything is almost like a cabin in the middle of the woods. Pretty nice place to visit for a game. 10/10 great barn.

Fun fact about Columbus: the Explosion heard from the cannon doesn't occur from the cannon. It's actually an explosion up in the rafters. The cannon is just wired to spark a bit and puff smoke out at the same time as the Explosion in the rafters. It's why when you go to cbj games, no matter where you sit, the Explosion is just as loud no matter how close you are to the cannon

SAP center has had major updates the last couple of years. What was not mentioned was the syncing strobe lights located between each seat, they flash during goals and songs in between stops. Plus the lights can change colors. New score board with high resolution. When the sharks are great again SAP will be rocking again. Also Seattle I was very surprised with. I had an awesome experience when I saw a sharks/ kraken game last year. Amazing fans, the upper deck is a bit obstructed, but the non- stop refills on soda was the icing on the cake.

I am old enough that when we moved to the states the Sharks were not a thing and then like 2 years later my dad was taking us to the Cow Palace and that felt like a proper 'barn'. Then when the San Jose Arena (at that time) opened it felt so corporate it was going to ask you for a TPS report when you entered (did not help that my dad (under his company) owned a top level suite, I want to say around section 207 until 2005). That said seeing its evolution since has been cool. The best part is there is no such thing as a bad seat there.

I was very surprised how bleak the SAP is. Dated and barren. Few amenities. No atmosphere. They always show the glass entranceway on tv intros which is cool but after that there isn’t much to say. Also they force everyone to line up outside until 60 minutes to pick drop so getting inside was jammed with people.

Save a few unique ones they all look basically the same. A bit weird to rank them then, would be 10x better to rate arenas with atmosphere and fan participation added. As a Denver native, "Ball" arena will always be known as Pepsi Center, however, I currently live just 10 minutes from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada, and I couldn't agree with you more that it is the best experience in hockey, every game feels like a playoff game with the energy levels, and also just right outside in Toshiba Plaza, they play the games on multiple jumbotrons, including an outdoor goal horn, which is complementary to attend.

A little tidbit about The Scosh (5:40) the reason why we have the seat colors like that is to replicate the seating that was at Maple Leaf Gardens. If you look up any interior pics of MLG you can see what The Scosh was aiming for, I think its a nice little nod to MLG to have the seats like that. Only difference is, that the greys (platinums) are at the front. Greys at MLG were the last color in the upper level

ubs is a fabulous arena. bars and food everywhere, the view is perfect and the seats are very spacious (im a big guy and im comfortable). most importantly, there are more bathrooms than any other arena. The coliseum bathroom lines were beyond awful. to set the record straight, barclays is very nice, but was not built for hockey. I saw a concert there and enjoyed myself. A big thing for me is how the place operates. They get the food out quickly and got the train station running on belmont grounds (can easily sit in 2 hours of long island rush hour traffic during the week). I went to the garden and stood on line forever to get my stale pretzel. Now all we need is Barzal to shoot the puck and well be ok

Most recently, I’ve gone to PNC Arena (Carolina), Capital One Arena (Washington), and Amalie Arena (Tampa). In terms of seats & view, Carolina definitely wins. I tried to stay in the same relative area when selecting my seats for a good comparison. The seats in Tampa were pretty comfortable but my only issue was that the bowl was very flat so it was hard to see. In Washington, the seats were not well cushioned and were kinda uncomfortable. You could also even feel someone 12 seats down tapping their feet so that was annoying. In Carolina, the seats were well cushioned and the bowl was steeper so it was easier to see. My biggest issue was just that there wasn’t much leg room in the corners

As a Carolina fan, I have to agree. I know that sounds biased, but being from California, I've seen the Shark Tank. I saw MSG while visiting NYC. After watching tour videos from other stadiums and watching all the live games to hear the crowds/announcers/music/etc., I still have to rank PNC Arena as one of the most electric hockey atmospheres I've ever experienced. Honda Center is the only current NHL arena I have been to, and I was expecting it to be pretty low, so good spot at 31. It definitely feels like an arena built in the early 90s. The exterior especially reflects this 90s aesthetic, as does the concourse area which reminds me of a shopping mall with the use of the patterned tiles on the floors and walls, with the wood trim. It looks very clean and doesn't look old in terms of wear & tear, just out of date style-wise and major mall vibes.
@glennhavinoviski8128
@glennhavinoviski8128 Жыл бұрын
The mall vibe for sure in the 90s when it first opened as "The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim". Though at the time, the marble and wood (and all the Disney videos, the cheerleaders and the mascot which was a first for hockey) were definitely upscale compared to the Forum at the time which very much felt like a 1960s-70s vintage gymnasium, suited better for Laker games than Kings games. But the old Forum was definitely exciting in the 1989-94 era with Gretzky playing there, and so we didn't think about how old it was - and it was perfectly suited to Metallica concerts.

No shadows on the ice. Seats were either white, green, black and gold and it was mixed. Nice experience, but rather spartan compared to modern arenas. People were there for the hockey. The St. Louis building was big and old with a great organ. Great fans packed to the high roof. Like being at a big midwest circus. I enjoyed it. Xcel Energy Center is understated beautiful. Little Caesar's Arena (The Pizza Palace) also has a small museum dedicated to the Red Wings and the Pistons (our basketball team who shares the arena). In addition to this, all our giant statues of great Red Wings players were saved and brought over from Joe Louis Arena. Along with the manhole covers in the ground each dedicated to a different legendary Wings or Pistons player (think Hollywood walk of fame). And finally, my most favorite feature.... We have the giant sign that once belonged to the first Red Wings arena. From my understanding, shortly after Olympia Stadium was demolished, the giant Olympia sign went missing. Then it reappeared when the Pizza Palace opened up and it is hanging on one of the walls within it. The thing is absolutely massive....over two stories tall and just looks epic with it's white neon features. As I mentioned earlier the Wings share the arena with the Pistons, so if you stay long enough after the Wings game you can watch them start to convert the arena into a basketball court which is super cool to watch. You can also see how they completely rearrange the two merch stores. Literally flipping racks around, flipping over signs that are turnable, changing the LED colors, all that cool stuff Cuz they're also constantly changing the arena back and forth, it's also insanely clean...unlike....Joe Louis.... In it's final years.... Cough perpetually sticky floors cough Oh, and one last thing to note is L.C.A. also hired a local street artist to design and spray paint some Red Wings/Hockeytown art on the outside of the arena. Super cool to see. Going to L.C.A. is absolutely an amazing experience. Food prices suck, but there's always an affordable seat there no matter what, so I think it evens out

The reason why Capital One Arena doesn't have red seats is that they play Wizards and Georgetown Hoyas games there which the Hoyas colors are grey and blue. When it originally opened in 2007 as MCI Center, the Wizards' colors were teal and white. So the dark blue seats made sense. But I agree, red seats would make Caps home games pop.

As a Blues fan who’s been to many games, I don’t necessarily see anything special about the inner part of the building with the seats and ice. It’s extremely nice and all of the seats have great views even at the very top, but it’s nothing crazy to me. However, where the Enterprise Center really shines IMO is the concessions and stores all around the arena. Also, it’s just very beautiful looking and clean when you walk around it. Lots of the style is nice to look at inside of there, but I don’t think the actual seats and bowl area itself is that great. I would say the big positives in Enterprise Center is the sound, Jumbotron visibility, views from all of the seats, modern/sleek feel, and awesome concession/store/walking area.

Can confirm, CPA is a great place to catch a game. The main level concourse is great, even if the ground level one is a bit narrow around the outside. There are huge LED screens all throughout the arena showing underwater scenes and relevant stats and announcements and stuff, and the signage is great. My one complaint is the seats… they’re not the most comfortable or roomy seats out there, that’s for sure. Another small detail that you might not have noticed: there’s an eye projected onto the pillar outside of the window, and it looks almost like the kraken is wrapped around the entire arena. Sometimes they also project Bigfoot there, LOL. There are almost no bad seats, save the ones behind the press boxes which can’t see the twins (the Jumbotrons). There are TVs there though so they can see what’s going on.

I'm seeing a theme with a lot of the seat colouring, they're often coloured to match the team colours. IMO that's a good thing, though in some cases, where a team's primary colour is a bit bland, they could mix in a secondary team colour in with it to liven the place up a bit. EG, the Minnesota Wild, the seats are green, mating the main colour of the team, but I agree that looks a bit bland in an empty arena, based on the views in the video. Adding in some seating in the Wild's secondary colour of bright red would help liven things up a bit, while still staying true to the team.

Back in 2007, SAP Center lost power roughly half an hour before game time. It was the season opener against Boston. They didn't upgrade the electric portion of the building after all the other upgrades. It was actually fun seeing the game played without all the in-game extras and music. Just the game.

Surprised in some ways to see Winnipeg arena so high. It started out as an AHL building. Then they had to blow the roof off and expand when we got our team back. Gives it a very tight feel and is real loud even when 15k are screaming. The location down down and exterior add to the vibe. Real tight in the concessions make for a party feel even when you get a beer. I have been at a handful of rinks myself. One is the Sharks. Have to agree its a great time. Wish I was loaded for sure I would make a effort to follow the Jets for a season to every house just to get a feel for them all.

Kristov has been our organist for years and knocks it out of the park every game. They removed 500 seats to install the system and has RGB lighting that changes throughout the game. Plus the 3rd level Biergarten outside that overlooks downtown Tampa and Thunder Alley is an awesome place to grab a beer at during intermission. Location is prime right on the bay in downtown too.

Capital One has great video screens, but the ice is often slushy for games and they fired the organist and removed the organ. It just leaves me cold now, even with the exciting atmosphere when Ovi's on fire. I really like the Nationwide Arena (nice main concourse) and that cannon is cool. MSG is only highly-rated because of where it is. If it were anywhere else it would be a dump. If Honda Center is anything like it was in 1994, it felt just like a shopping mall. It seemed weirdly... cluttered, if that makes sense? There wasn't much of an atmosphere in the building. It seemed overly bland and it didn't help that the colouring of the seats was really ass too.

The upper bowl at MSG is deceptively pushed wayyyy back so that the last five rows make you feel like you're watching the game from New Jersey. And, as much as I appreciate the iconic ceiling, did you know that it slopes DOWN toward center ice, almost like a circus tent roof bowing inward? If you're in the upper rows of the second level you cannot see the person sitting across from you on the other side of the arena because of the way the ceiling drops. In fact, from those upper rows you're actually looking DOWN at the scoreboard.

Rogers Arena is on the older end of the scale for NHL rinks, but I think they've done a really good job making sure it doesn't look too dated. The stanchion lighting is one of my favourite things they added. I think it looks pretty cool for the pre-game and it's fun that they also light up for every Canucks goal. It's not AS cool as having fucking giant tesla coils in your arena (seriously a genius idea for the Lightning) but it's a nice feature that looks good watching from inside the arena and on tv. I do think they could change the seat colour tho. I love burgundy, but Vancouver hasn't had any burgundy in their uniforms since the OG Orca, and that colour scheme got replaced by the blue and green in mid-late 2000s--and I don't think those colours are ever coming back. Also on the topic of Tampa, I just found out they have a 1-acre organic vegetable garden on site? Used for player meals and the in-arena restaurants? That's really cool, kinda helps offset the inherent arena parking lot land use issues. I wonder how many other teams have something like that.

There was a seat that had a giant beam right in front of it lmao. We were just happy to get a new one so they had ryan homes built us a nut ass arena. Detroit is my fav hockey arena hands down. Thet went all out!
